Wincopin Trails, Savage Park - 6:30 PM Thursday 5/24/12

Details:

The trail we will be walking is about 2 to 3 miles through a wood-chip and leaf covered covered path. The trails are wide and well-marked, and consist of several loops throughout the park. WE WILL most likely DO THE RED TRAIL. There are some elevation changes, but nothing too challenging. Some sections of the trails are a little bit rocky (small rocks), but my Scotties do fine on them. You might need to pick up and carry a small dog if they don't want to walk over the rocks.

Info from Howard County about these trails:

(website says a trail map is coming soon)

I recommend sturdy sneakers or hiking boots or trail shoes. If your dog likes to take a dip in the river, there are many places where they can get wet!!!

Bring water for you and your dog and waste pickup bags.

LOCATION

The parking lot for the Wincopin trails of Savage Park is located on Vollmerhausen Road, a short distance downhill from the Patuxent Valley Middle School. If you're using a GPS or Mapquest, you can get there by entering: 9271 Vollmerhausen Road, Jessup MD.

If you're coming from Savage-Guilford Road, it is a little parking lot on your Left.  If you are coming from Murray Hill Road it is a little parking lot on your right.

So sorry to give regrets but according to the weather it's supposed to start thunderstorming around 5 pm, pretty much all evening. I'd rather play it safe and not be in the middle of the trail and have to dodge lightening strikes back to the car. See you next time!

Assuming its not actively raining, I'll be there with at least one of my little ones. :)

Confirming for tonight's walk! It will be nice to see everyone and a few new people and dogs too. Scattered showers forecast for the greater metro area, I'm hoping for no rain in Savage. It may be warm, hopefully not to humid, remember the pups can take a dip in the river, so you may want to bring a towel. See you tonight!

Michelle, who made the mistake of saying "walkie tonight" when I left the house this morning. Connor and Tess (now?, now?....can we go now, mom?)

Ugh, it seems like this year so far every meet up is on a day I can't make it. :(. It's my daughter's graduation day.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
