OWDB Table at the HRC 2014 Gala

From this day forward I ask that each of you put away a dollar a day until February 1 because YOU matter. I’ll explain why.
Rights matter, our rights, everyone's rights. Rights\laws directly impact your life, your liberty, your joy.

You may think rights\laws are enacted out of fairness just b\c it is the "right" thing to. That is not true examine world history.
All throughout our country’s history, well let me put it this way … I am certain there were husbands who loved, valued and respected their wives, their opinions and believed she should have the right to vote however their believing did not grant women the right to vote it took a movement. It took standing up.

I know many older people alive today who before our laws changed viewed people of different color the same as them but that did not effect change. Action did, a movement did, people standing up and demanding what is right changed our nation’s laws.

Enough of that you get the message. I therefore ask you to put a dollar a day away until February then purchase your ticket to the HRC Gala. Start today and you will have $230 come February 1st which will be more than enough to purchase a ticket to the Gala.

What does the HRC do? They advocate on behalf of LGBT Americans. They lobby Congress for change in laws, they mobilize grassroots actions, they invest strategically for fair-minded individuals to be elected to office and they educate the public about LGBT issues.

The money used to purchase your ticket will got to fund those good works, those necessary actions. You will become a member of the HRC.

Talk is cheap. You are worth a dollar a day, we are worth a dollar a day.

Let's put our money where our mouths are, where our heart are and I will see YOU at the Gala!

Well, Yes, I guess you could say that.

For anyone that does not know how the HRC Gala and Tables work it's like this. You let the HRC Gala know that you are willing to have a Table at the event. You then put it in your Name or your Company Name or whatever. I am "getting" a Table in One World Dragon Boats name. I am not responsible for paying the HRC for all the seats. My promise to them is "work" as best I can to fill the table, each table seats 10 people. Attendees will buy their own tickets to the event and they will be asked at time of purchase which table they want to sit at.

If my recollection is correct, they start selling tickets in January.
