Holiday Wheelchair Stroll on the Promenade!

Hey guys! Another Wheelchair Stroll is on the calendar - woohoo! *And this time - bring your Holiday decor... Wear or bring some festive, fun items to make this an especially jolly stroll (I'll be wearing my Santa hat)!* We'll celebrate the Holidays on the go - strolling down the Santa Monica Promenade with the folks from Fireside! We'll stroll down to Santa Monica Place and see if there's any music going on there then we'll head on back. Look forward to seeing your smiling faces...and I KNOW the residents of Fireside appreciate your time... They love to get out into the fresh air and sunshine, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Santa Monica :) If it's raining, however, the plan is do activities inside at Fireside. By the way, if there are more of you than residents we'll have you double up... It's nice to have an extra person to just chat with the resident. You're awesome - Thank you for volunteering! :)

"Fireside has a great need for volunteers at their small and intimate community. Many of their finest activities happen because of the tremendous support that is received from within the community, and quite a few of the volunteers who come to Fireside develop long lasting relationships with the residents. Having these kinds of activities helps to promote a sense of well being and belonging... Not only is it good for the residents, it's just as wonderful for the volunteers!"

Parking... It can be frustrating so leave time for that. Recommended spot is the public garage at[masked]th St. - "Structure 9". You can Google it and see it on street view (the entrance is between 2 structures). It's about a 10 or so min. walk from the garage to Fireside. The first 2 hours are free and then $1 each additional 30 mins. There is street parking according to Howard, but I know last time people were having a hard time finding any! Here's some info. 'bout the parking:

You can also park further down by Pallisades and Alta, but leave about 15 mins or so to walk over to Fireside.

Afterwards we'll head...somewhere. We'll play it by ear. You guys can help me decide :)

We missed you, Lanette, but I understand... It IS hard to park on a Sat. in that area. We'll have another stroll in Jan., however, so check the One Brick calendar! :)
