Hike Through Alapocas

If you've never hiked along Bancroft Mills, this is definitely a hidden gem of the Brandywine Valley.

And it you have, it's still pretty cool and it's a good place to go during hunting season.

Let's plan on a three mile hike.

Wish my dog didn't have issues with the salt and snow on his paws. I left the park and went directly to petsmart. I wanted to buy mukluk boots for him but they fell off after only a few steps. He does better on trail rather than pavement.....too many chemicals out there. The manager at petsmart said it's the salt that bothers their paws....it burns them. Anyway I really want to get me and shadow out there weekly. Hope to see everyone next week. I saw that Steve made the fair hill hike on a Sunday instead of Saturday. I hope that was a mistakes. Saturday is my fun day. Sundays I prep for the work week. But I'll be there regardless. :-)

Hey Steve..I talked to my friend Deb... she'll be out of town so it will just be me. I would like to carpool with you if you don't mind.

Dave- are we walking down to the brandywine creek from the playground?

I think that's best the other direction isn't as attractive

Not sure about the address Phyllis, but the pointer on the map shows the exact entrance to the Can-Do playground parking lot. It's a little puzzling if you've never been to that entrance because it's right off Foulk and comes up (on the right) sort of quickly. Hope this helps everyone.

The address on the playground's website is 4361 Weldin Road
      Wilmington, DE 19803

I'm pooping out. Sorry but too windy and no sun isn't pleasant for me.

Sorry for the late cancellation, but the boots I have are not the greatest in the snow. Have fun!

Is there an address I can put into my GPS? I thought Alapocas was off of 202

    January 24, 2014

    • Gerri

Phyllis- it is , kinda, off 202, but Foulk & 202 parallel each other. If u go all the way down Foulk twds 202, you'll pass a cemetary & Independence Mall on ur right. Turn left at traffic light after u pass this. The parking lot for Alapocus & the playground on right there on the right.

My number is (302)[masked] in case anyone is lost or running late, but if you're uncertain, I urge you to look at the map above and head for where the flag is pointed. It's sort of on the edge of that colosal spaghetti bowl.

Is can do park the baseball field behind the DuPont experimental station?

    January 24, 2014

    • David H.

No... it's where Foulk and Weldin meet... near the roundabout.

I hate to rain on a parade, but there is hunting at White clay including Judge Morris Jan 18-25.

Remember, Sundays there is never any hunting so those are the best days.

oh i thought they closed off Judge too when they hunted? if not, sorry, didnt mean to stick my nose in there with wrong information. Carry on! ;)

That's a good idea changing it since we were just at Judge Morris. I'll be in Shenandoah, so have fun. See you Feb 02. I'm going to also post a Fair Hill hike when I get a chance.

Wish I could go to this one! Suka and I really enjoyed Judge Morris last Saturday. I will be in Delaware Water Gap with Appalachian Mt Club this weekend. I will join up with whoever's going to Brandwine on Feb 02.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
