Dear ODBH member,
It's going to be a special night on Tuesday when the Open-data Brighton and Hove Group - which now has well over 100 members! - meets for the first time in Cogapp's offices, including a new and splendid auditorium.
The auditorium provides a comfortable and business-like setting that will enable more presentations and discussions. So if you want to give a five-minute lightning talk about any aspect of open data, please just let me know.
There will be [limited] volumes of free beer and wine to help smooth the move from the upstairs room of The Quadrant!
If you haven't already met Hadley, make sure you make the most of the opportunity.
If you have already met Hadley, I'm sure you'll want to come along anyway!
NB: Thanks to Richard Wolfstrome (@wolfstrome) for the work he is already doing to create an #ODCC logo and identity. And to Tom Bailey (@BomTailey), who has researched possible venues and provided some - slightly scary - costings.
We will be giving details of a full-blown "project", the results of which will be unveiled in time for next year's conference.
I won't reveal too much about it now, except to say it involves lots of election data and is intended to produce a resource - and the infrastructure - for anyone wishing to encourage engagement in the democratic life of our city.
If you were at the excellent, inaugural meeting of Hacks and Hackers in Brighton yesterday you will have heard some of the detail of how open data, technology, and journalism can come together to do something outstanding.
We are inviting Leigh to be our guest at the ODBH meeting on Tuesday, October 11. Places will be limited and demand will be high, so sign up now for the October meeting.
