Join us for our weekly civic hack sessions inside City Hall. Brigade members and others interested in civic hacking welcome. We provide space, wifi, great peeps and pizza.
In addition to our regular hack night, we also have a special guest speaker, John Crowley, talking with us about open data for humanitarian causes and disaster preparedness. We'll also have a brainstorm session with the city's new Chief Resiliency Officer Victoria Salinas.
John Crowley works at the intersection of humanitarian technology, disaster risk reduction, public policy, and field practice. He is a consultant to the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery’s Open Data for Resilience Initiative at the World Bank. He also curates a humanitarian technology accelerator run through partnership of the National Defense University’s Center for Technology and National Security Policy TIDES project and Naval Postgraduate School at Camp Roberts in California. John holds an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, where he was the Robert C. Seamans, Jr. Fellow in Science, Technology, and Public Policy. He is also a classically-trained cellist.
You're welcome to work on any of our formal civic apps or campaigns. For a complete projects list, visit openoakland.org
