Deploying OpenStack in a Multi-Hypervisor Enterprise Environment

In March, Rick Ashford, OpenStack specialist with SUSE will led the session.

Most OpenStack distributions are centered around a single hypervisor, KVM.  Enterprises, on the other hand, have massive investments in a variety of different virtualization platforms.  Building a private cloud is a massive change in and of itself, and most large enterprises are reluctant to lose their existing competence with their chosen hypervisor at the same time.  In our March session, Rick will detail how to integrate VMware, Hyper-V, and Xen, along with KVM into a single, heterogeneous OpenStack environment.  We will also discuss various ways that a multi-hypervisor setup can help an enterprise maximize cost efficiencies, leverage existing skill sets, and expand the reach of automated services to more groups in a large enterprise.

•  a light dinner and soft drinks will be provided ~ 6:15pm courtesy of SUSE, and we will kick off the sessions ~ 6:30pm.

• Lightening topics are welcome! Got a hot topic to present to the group in 10 mins? Come ready to speak!

• Meetup sponsorships are available - contact the organizers and we'll review options with you ...

Thanks to Rick and SUSE for the presentation. Is the deck available somewhere?

Good deal tonight Rick. VERY practical, crisp session. Heck the demos even worked. There was a good balance of content for the "newbies" and the gonzos! :-) Good questions from the group - even the Pizza was still hot! This is why we meetup. :-) Thanks again to Rick and the SUSE crew for sponsoring. Reminder to the group - next month's sponsorship and LEAD presentation slot is available!

Hey Stackers, I'm working with Gene Kim on DevOps Audit Defense as well as the DevOps Enterprise cookbooks - so if you're interested in either topic and will be at the meetup tomorrow, please try and find me or email me directly byronm at gmail. I'm interested in hearing your story, seeing what issues you may run into in the enterprise or through your audit requirements. If you do OpenStack in enterprise and have SOX/PCI/whatever audits - even better! Especially interested in even Corporate/Enterprise IT shops since there is a huge demand for information here.
