  • Playing with bits and pixels is fun, but only to a point. Let's learn how to interact with the real world !

"Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for artists, designers, hobbyists and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments."

During this workshop, we will learn how to get alerted when our plants need watering by using an Arduino to measure the humidity of the ground and by creating some sound when the earth is too dry.

Hi, I am a newcomer. I have an advanced kwoledge of python, C and C++ but I know pretty much nothing about Arduinos. Do you think this would be the right workshop for a beginner?
    Thanks

Agreed with Bruno, would be great to get our hands on this ! Thanks for the updates. ps: RaspberryPi is as well on my list :)

    Hi all,

Long time has passed since this workshop was planned, so I have decided to cancel it and announce a new Arduino workshop : http://www.meetup.com/OpenTechSchool-Brussels/events/219141027/

Hi, I wish to come (if possible with my 2 children who have started to learn programming with SCRATCH). Please inform me about the location as well as date & time. Thanks.

Would be great if it was reasonably close to one of the 3 big train stations (VUB / ULB is rather remote). Off course you'd also be welcome in Antwerp, even better.

Antwerp-Deurne also has a hackerspace. Depending on what should be present, we had a WP Antwerp meetup at choco.be and I'm not sure if jes.be/antwerpen charges for the room they have.

(My apologies, as an "outsider", I find Brussels public transport very confusing -not to mention expensive- so I'm usually walking, up to 30 min.)

      Howdy-do, fellow geek brethren!
If I make it to the workshop and if I am coming with the car, I can always swing by Central Station or Midi, or even Nord to pick anybody up. Or for that matter I can even pick up any locals from anywhere in Brussels that's on my way (priority given for "outsiders"). So let me know when time comes and we have a confirmed date.

    Cheers

Yep, we're almost on the edge of vaporware here... Don't worry (too much), it'll be and it'll be glorious. Or at least it'll be. Just need to find time in my schedule to set it up.

Well, for now it's more of an idea... It's been a bit forgotten because we're dealing with other workshops. But it'll happen. Soonish :p

I really want to come, but I can make it only on weekends (I live in Luxembourg).

Hi Tatiana. The workshop yet has to be planned, but it will definitely happen during a weekend.

I have a few Arduinos at home, so I can bring some for other people.
As for electronic, I might have a little stock I can bring too.

yus pls. I have an Arduino, is there anything else that we should bring?

    October 8, 2013

    • Hugo H.

I'll bring the necessary resistors, LEDs and wires, but it would be great if you have an old/cheap pair of earphones you can bring with you (cheap as we might damage them a bit).
