"Thinking in Graphs"

Leveraging Connectedness in your Data, and why this will be the next big trend in data informatics
The topic of October 4 meetup is Connected Thinking. We will explore new ways to think about data, and emerging technologies that are beginning to make possible a new class of Connected Analytics.

Traditional Business Intelligence relies largely on two forms of thinking.  The first is tabular, and gives rise to cubes, pivot tables, and drill-down analysis.  The second is aggregated analytics, which relies on statistical and quantitative methods to understand trends and patterns.  A third method is emerging, Connected Analytics, which makes possible a new dimension of insights by prioritizing the inter-relationships between data, not merely the data.  Connected Thinking is supported by technologies such as graph databases, and an emerging ecosystem of tools.  Tonight we will explore Connected Intelligence and look at some industries who are evolving to leverage it.  We will also discuss data and processing models--focusing particularly on the property graph--as well as query methods and example uses.

Very engaging session by Philip Rathle of Neo4J with good participation from the attendees. Probably the best MeetUp I have attended in my sphere of interest.
