Los Angeles Ballet's 2013 Balanchine Festival RED is part two of a historic two part series of George Balanchine masterworks. Festival RED features three of the influential choreographer's greatest ballets. In "La Valse", a one act story ballet, Maurice Ravel's music is the backdrop for a young woman's fascination with a sinister figure at a ball. Powered by Igor Stravinsky's score, twelve dancers in black and white engage in a contest of dance in "Agon". And Balanchine collaborates with Stravinsky once again in "Rubies", the jazzy, exuberant center section of his full length ballet, "Jewels".
We attended part one of the festival in April and absolutely loved both the Balanchine choreography and the dancers. The total ticket price from Goldstar is $33.50 and you can purchase tickets at the link below: PLEASE DO NOT RSVP FOR THIS EVENT IF YOU HAVE NOT PURCHASED A TICKET.
