OCMMA Debuts New Group!!!! "Web – Video Crossroads"

New OCMMA Special Interest Group!! Focus: Video on the Web and Mobile Devices Everyone attending the Debut meeting will receive an 8 X 10 glossy of our new group's symbol with the designation, "I was there when we broke ground!" The focus of Web – Video Crossroads (Adobe User Group) will be to inspire and instruct our members to take advantage of opportunities involving online video and the underlying technology. Under the leadership of Mike McGready, Owner and Creative Director of Album of Life video studios, this SIG will look at ways to take advantage of Internet opportunities for our own and clients' websites, as well as the abundance of social networking sites. Creation of profitable, rich media websites and production of quality audio and video resources for our clients are the desired results.

Since Internet video is our target, we will be using and discussing Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Premiere Pro, Soundbooth, Visual Communicator and several other related softwares. Of course, softwares such as Flash deal with video so we will coordinate our topics with OC Flash to make sure we don't duplicate effort. Other video software like Final Cut Pro may occasionally be part of the conversation but if you are looking for a FCP User Group, this ain't it! Whether you are a web designer, web developer, or a video/audio producer, our topics will be stimulating for you.

Mike will be looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to co-manage the group. The former OCMMA Internet/Dreamweaver SIG is no longer part of OCMMA. The Web Video Crossroads SIG meets on the second Thursday of every month. Admission fees for this SIG will be waived during our startup promotion.

Program for Debut Meeting: Exploring Web Video Crossroads

Online Video Today...and Tomorrow

Without coming to a meeting on this topic, you know that video is all over the Internet and you may even be carrying it around in your pocket. However, you may not realize the opportunities you have for creating websites and videos to tap into the wealth. There is no recession in the online video industry! Mike McGready will examine what is going on today and share what he has learned about the future.

I love the idea of this group. My concern is how broad the topic is and vast the content will have to be. It seems (like with all large groups) that we are all at very different levels of understanding and experience. I like Mike very much as an instructor/facilitator and I really appreciate the knowledge and opportunities to learn that OCMMA offers! Thank you.

Hats off to Mike for a great debut meeting of OCMMA's new Special Interest Group! The room was packed, and the attendees expressed an eager interest in Mike's presentation. I look forward to exciting topics at future meetings and continued growth of this very timely user group. And thanks to Adobe for sponsoring the group!

It was a great beginning to a potentially cutting edge special interest group. I was so pleased to see one of my Digital Video Editing Students attend and start to network for himself. Afterwards he said that it was a valuable experience for him. The location, though hard to find for the first time in the dark, is much more centrally located which is likely to increase my participation.

It was fun and informative and very well organized. Mike's enthusiasm shown through, and with a vision to the future, had us choose from a 3 page list of cutting edge topics. Congratulations Mike for a great first meeting that was well received.

Thank you for the great turnout! We filled the room. The help I received and the participation tells me we've got a good thing going. Also, thank you to Mary Osadzinski from New Horizons. Their facilities are great and their hospitality is unmatched.

I'm anxious to see how you fix that video. Looks like something I would have shot! I especially like the toenails! I wonder if Terry & Bonnie can fix them in AfterEffects?

Those who attend our Debut meeting will have the opportunity to help set the agenda for the coming months. I've started a list of what I believe will make for great topics but your input is a missing ingredient that will make all the difference in how great our group will be!
