Room 132 Feature Presentation: Looking Under the Hood of Premiere Pro CC
Mike McGready, Creative Director and Owner of Album of Life Video Studios, will be showing some of the features which have delighted him about Premiere Pro CC. It fulfilled his wish list, big time! Some little things that he missed from Final Cut Pro 7 have now shown up like old friends. One very big feature arrived just in time to use to edit a multi-camera Bar Mitzvah party. He will show you some of the results of that undertaking.
As we've learned Adobe's CS6 software wasn't succeeded by CS7. It is the CC version. It is the version which will never get obsolete because continuous, free updates and enhancements are part of the deal. It isn't exactly like a Forever Stamp from the Post Office. You can't buy the software anymore. It comes with a Creative Cloud subscription. Mike loves that approach because it makes nearly everything adobe makes available for one monthly price. You don't have to be connected to the Web to use it, either. It resides in your computer, just like CS6 did.
Second Presentation: Web Fonts from Adobe and Elsewhere
There are many free web fonts that Adobe makes available through their Creative Cloud. Ivan Taylor, our group's Co-Manager, will show you what is available from Adobe and elsewhere.
Attention Web developers! We will be offering a couple of O'Reilly® books as part of their Books for Review program. "Bootstrap" and "HTML5 Canvas" will be given out to a couple of lucky individuals.
What Google just did that may knock your website out of their search results!
Each month we will take a few minutes to discuss recent technical breakthroughs and announcements related to web and mobile device video.
Adobe Software Raffle
We give away a 12 month Adobe Creative Cloud subscription twice a year! You earn points (tickets) at each meeting toward the raffles. The next raffle for our group will be in December. Raffle tickets are not for sale, they must be earned. First time attendees are not eligible for the drawing so start attending now. Read the RAFFLE RULES for more details.
Stump the Pros/Critics Corner
Something on a project you are working on have you stumped? Ask the group if they have any suggestions or information that might help. Also, if you'd like constructive input on one of your projects, bring it to show.
We've arranged for parking passes to be handed out in the drop-off area near the main entrance to the building. Please drive through and be handed your pass before you park. If you arrive after 7:00 PM, park in the visitor area, near the main entrance, and pick up your parking pass in our meeting room. Then re-park after hanging your pass on your vehicle's mirror.
Come early (6:30PM) to enjoy snacks, networking, and your favorite "viral" videos.
The focus of the Web – Video Crossroads (Adobe User Group) is to inspire and instruct our members to take advantage of opportunities involving Web and mobile-device video and the underlying technology. The group's managers, Mike McGready, Owner and Creative Director of Album of Life video studios, and Ivan Taylor, an instructor and consultant on multimedia in education, aim to develop meeting programs that inspire, educate and support those with similar interests. Web developers/designers or video/audio producers will find our topics invaluable and stimulating.
The Web Video Crossroads meets on the second Thursday of every month. and the fee for Orange County MultiMedia Association non-members is $10, or $5 for students (School of Continuing Education students are admitted free).
