Our monthly general interest meetings include educational presentations and networking, focused on current developments in multimedia, web technology, and the digital arts. Now, OCMMA's new Adobe Creative Suite User Group - Orange County (CS-OC) will meet jointly with the General Meeting of OCMMA every third Tuesday of the month.

The goal of this group is to continue to provide local designers and developers with a forum for learning from speakers and from each other about how best to leverage the power of Adobe applications in their business workflows. Meetings will continue to feature presentations by Adobe specialists, business entrepreneurs, camera and hardware pro's, and others. Topics are selected to have broad appeal across the various multimedia disciplines. Cynthia Gordon is the Manager of CS-OC.

In addition, every month we'll dive into some aspect of the Adobe Creative Suite, with a special focus on ways to streamline your workflow and jump back and forth among apps to get your work done. We'll have a special segment at each meeting called: "Creative Suite Treats", where a 5 to 10 minute demo will highlight a particular tool or technique in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks, etc.

Come at 6 PM for networking and food and soft drinks. The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM. Program: Adobe CS5 Launch Meeting Featuring Colin Smith on Photoshop CS5

Photoshop being switchable between 32 and 64 bit modes was good news. I video-taped the event and Colin answered all my questions. I understood this would not be an overview of the entire Creative Suite and was not disappointed.

This meeting had tasty box sandwiches, a lot of networking with new and old colleagues and of course the presentation by Colin Smith, which eventually went beyond what was already posted on the Photoshop Cafe website.

Our CS5 Launch Event featuring Colin Smith on Photoshop CS5 was a great success on Tuesday evening! Colin, well-known as a Photoshop guru, did an excellent job of showing the new features in Photoshop CS5, entertaining the audience with his great sense of humor the whole time he presented. The large audience was attentive and asked good questions, which Colin did his best to answer thoroughly. Plus we had great food and a very comfortable meeting room. I think we left the crowd hungry for more CS5!

My thanks to Colin and all the folks from OCMMA and Meetup who helped me organize, set up, and "produce" this event. A special thanks to Mike and Terry for their videography, Dave for capturing the event in photos, and Bonnie, Joanne, and Thomas for helping with set-up and check-in. A special thanks also to Adobe and the Orange County Digital Media Center for sponsoring this meeting!

Lots of good info on Photoshop, as well as features of new CS5. Speaker tended to mumble at times, and used technical acronyms which not everyone understood.

Cynthia Gordon, the president of OCMMA, put together a very successful CS5 Launch Event in that it was highly organized, well-paced, and informative. We had the added bonus of Colin Smith a well known Photoshop expert who not only gave us the new features of CS5 Photoshop, he did so with his fun sense of humor, always entertaining while instructing. The 80 people attending made this the biggest event at OCMMA in my ten years of membership. Good job by all!

Food was awesome, the stuff he covered was awesome. I wish we had a better view/mic. When he was making jokes, the people who were sitting in the back kept on saying " what did he say?" and we couldn't laugh with him.. that was a bummer.
And when he was explaining stuff on the computer, pointing out little menus, we couldn't read that either. :/
But as far as the content and the actual meeting -- it was great! I would love to go to another one of these next time. Thank you so much.

This was the best event OCMMA has produced since Coolsville in '96. Colin was superb. The crowd was huge. The food was great and the venue was perfect. Congratulations to Cynthia and her supporting cast.
