Web – Video Crossroads: October 14

The Flight at the Crossroads!

Live Demo of Aerial Video Capture!!!

Defy Gravity! Come see boundaries get broken as our guest presenters leave this world to get shots we didn't think possible, or, at least not possible on the budgets we typically work with. We are calling it, "The Flight at the Crossroads."

LIVE STREAMING WEBCAST AT 7:30 PM

If you can't join us tonight at New Horizons and later at the park, tune into our live webcast of the view from the copter: http://jasontucker.us/live Guest Presenters

We will actually see aerial videography being captured with a sophisticated remote-control-helicopter. See a truly innovative method of bringing exciting and creative footage to our video productions. Rob Moscato and Chris Cloutier, from f-Stop Aerial Video will show us "live" how they perform their magic. They will also show a demo reel of HD video shot from a variety of aerial platforms, all of which are radio controlled models. They are able to provide shots that would be impossible, not to mention unaffordable, by any other method. This is a perfect way to get footage of venues, sporting events, concerts or almost anything else outside. Their high-tech helicopters have GPS and flight stabilization systems to provide accurate placement on a stable platform. Video transmitters send signals back to monitors and servos specially designed for cameras pan and tilt as well as zoom.

Cameras range from Contour and GoPro mini HD cameras to Canon 5D and 7Ds for the ultimate in production quality. You know they've given a lot of thought to safety and control when $2,000 to $3,000 cameras are along for the ride. Come see the "live" demo of their extremely sophisticated aerial equipment!

We will continue the very popular segment which discusses the latest topics in technical news related to online video, online marketing trends, rivalries and related technical issues. We will have a lot to cover and there is always a surprise!

RAFFLE: The Adobe Software Bundle of the winners choice will be raffled off at THIS WebVid meeting. First time attendees are not eligible. See RAFFLE RULES for eligibility and how to EARN raffle points (raffle tickets are not for sale, they must be earned).

The focus of the Web – Video Crossroads (Adobe User Group) is to inspire and instruct our members to take advantage of opportunities involving Web and mobile-device video and the underlying technology. Under the leadership of Mike McGready, Owner and Creative Director of Album of Life video studios, this group will follow technical developments and business trends while supporting and inspiring one another. Web developers/designers or video/audio producers will find our topics invaluable and stimulating.

The Web Video Crossroads meets on the second Thursday of every month. and the fee for Orange County MultiMedia Association non-members is $10, or $5 for students (New Horizon students are admitted free).

Come early (6:30PM) to enjoy snacks, networking, and your favorite "viral" videos.

This was an excellent meeting that included a field trip to see the actual equipment working.
Sorry I got too busy to post the still images I took.

As is usually the case and interesting and well executed evening. Nice job Mike.
The fellows with the helicopter demonstration were passionate and knowledgeable. I look forward to seeing successes from them as they hone their skills
