Welcome to 2012 Flash User Group community! Jeff Gomes and Caprice de Lorm are excited to take over management of this group as we delve into the new adventures awaiting us in the new year and beyond.

Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Please join us  as we discuss the following:

How can we use Flash and other Adobe tools to deliver apps to a wide audience with a minimum of redundancy in development?
As they say, the only thing constant is change. The world of technology and rich media is a world of new devices, new dimensions, and a variety of operating systems. This brings great opportunities, yet also the potential for “time drain” if we don’t identify best practices for operating efficiently. Jeff Gomes will lead a discussion that includes:

  • Developing for mobile operating systems such as iOS and Android
  • How to work through not having the latest Mac (or a Mac at all) when developing for Apple-based environments
  • Creating solutions for multiple operating systems across platforms without having to buy Creative Suite applications for both a Mac and Windows environment and what this might imply in terms of testing and implementation issues and challenges
  • We will address these issues from the standpoint of a Windows developer as part of this presentation

What do you want the 2012 Flash Meetings to include in terms of topics, presenters, and/or other items?
Please come to the meeting prepared to share items you would like addressed in our meetings (you can always step up to presenting or offering up presenter ideas too!). Our goal for this portion of the meeting will be to:

  • Identify topics (and target time frames) for our meetings in 2012
  • Obtain your input as to how to make these meetings topical and valuable to the community
  • Decide on the best times to meet in those months where we have holidays near our regular meeting times and where we have an extra Tuesday we can leverage if that works better for the group
