During the age of Enlightenment, salons were convened in homes throughout the major cities of Europe. A salon was a gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine the taste and increase the knowledge of the participants through conversation. These meetings were planned to please and to educate the members of the group. OC Salon is meant to capture the spirit of this Golden Age of witty, intellectual discussion and pursuit of knowledge. The salon events will be held in private homes with an educational emphasis (presenters) and an occasional dinner party. The group will also have meetups at a variety of venues that emphasize culture, art, travel, and history. We can also get together simply to have fun! So, if you are looking for a connection to other people and are a life long learner, this is the group for you.
