A River Tour Down France's Rhone Valley - Understanding the Top 5 Rhone Grapes

For this fast-paced and educational 1.5 hour session we are meeting in the private Wine Cellar Club, Irvine's premier location for fine wine storage. Prepay only event, no walk ins.

Sommelier and Rhone Expert Ted Contreras will discuss the key elements of the Rhone, led by Wine Elite sommelier Joey Kleinhans.

preview for wine line up:

1. Marsanne/Rousanne
2. Viognier

3. Tavel
4. Syrah (Rotie, Hermitage, Cornas or Crozes)

5. Grenache-dominated (CNDP or Vaq or Gigondas)
6. Mourvedre (maybe Bandol)

7./8. Cinsault and/or Carignan

We have a private room and will explore in depths the nature of wine "identity", sampling key examples from around the world, and identifying them together in a sommelier-guided blind-tasting.

Total cost is $45, including 7-9 serious wines, sommelier guidance, Italian salami and French cheese. Our last event at this location were a blast! Don't miss this one. Please pay here right away when you RSVP - Reservation only valid with prepayment via http://goo.gl/ne0Ec

The event includes a free tour of professional wine storage facilities that high-end collectors like to use.

GSM unveiled - nice to sample the components of a traditional blend as a way to learn more about varietals/typicity/terrroir and our palates that take them all on.

I have enjoyed every tasting that Joey has done, but this was my favorite because it was a small group, tasting wines from my favorite region in France. The "vibe" and conversation were great, as always, and I loved learning more about wine! It was also nice to have Ted's perspective on each of the wines presented, and to compare and contrast the mourvedre from California and France. Steve joined us for some interesting opinions at the end of the session. Everyone is knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you!
