Introduction
I'm an author, educator, speaker, and poet. I have several young adult novels published, the most notable a Junior Library Guild Selection. I've been published in magazines and newspapers and teach basic and advanced fiction writing.
Who is your favorite author?
Too many to mention. I like Gary Paulsen, Richard Peck, Cormac McCarthy, Anne Tyler, Jack London, Virginia Woolf, Catherine Ryan Hyde, Bill Bryson, Margaret Atwood, and lots more. Envious of JK Rowling, of course.
What genre, or area of expertise, is your writing?
Juvenile novels, adult short stories, poetry, nonfiction. Have taught writing and literature. SCBWI, PEN. Laguna Poets. Author awards: Juvenile Library Guild; San Diego Reading Association Award of Excellence. Teach Basic & Advanced Fiction Writing.
What are your present writing goals?
To market my current published novels, complete my works in progress, win the Newbery Award, develop some of my stories into screenplays, integrate my writing, publishing, and teaching as I continue to learn and grow as a writer.
