I have a 17-foot red and black (color is important!) British-style fiberglass sea kayak. It looks way more sexy than me or my car. :-)
Wet exit, assisted and solo re-entry, eskimo roll and the makings of a forward roll, carry a marine radio, signal mirror. Also carry first aid, repair, float bags, and hypothermia kits as appropriate. First aid/CPR certification current. BCU Level 1 Coach.
Pretty much anything other than high winds and dumping surf. I'm happy in lakes, rivers, and some coastal conditions. Primary requirement: non-boring shore. In short, OOPS level-3 conditions on down.
I am a kayaking addict. I try to get out about once a week, and enjoy finding safety buddies and new friends through OOPS. I like exploring interesting shores (like waterfalls, winding rivers). I'm also a photographer.
