Showcase of Wine & Cheese - Benefit for BGC

I have a couple of good friends who are fellow wine lovers and they attended this event last year and raved about it.  There are some amazing wines and hors d'oeuvres being served as well as live music, a raffle and a silent auction.

This is in incredible opportunity to try some wines that you would pay $20-50 to taste at the vineyard!  I am especially impressed with some of the California wines such as Jordan, Silver Oak, Duckhorn and Far Niente, to name a few, that are available for the Luxury Tasting.

Here is the info from the website:

The Portland Showcase of Wine & Cheese - A Benefit For The Boys & Girls Club of The Portland Metro.

Don't Forget to bring Your Smart Phone!

Auction bidding on Friday will be handled through cellphone bidding this year! Options will be available for those without smart phones.

On Friday, February 21st, 2014, the Showcase will be held at the Oregon Convention Center. Hundreds of wines, dozens of gourmet cheeses, scrumptious hors d'oeuvres and specialty foods make the Showcase a can't-miss event! Guests receive a complimentary wine glass and a tasting book to guide them through the spectacular evening, which also features a slient auction, raffle prizes, a wine wall, and live music from the Millennium Dance Band and "the Voice" John English - Sounds of Sinatra. Auction items include gift baskets with one-of-a-kind items from sports memorabilia, wines, gift certificates, beautiful pieces of art, and much more!  General admission tickets $45 in advance or $50 at the door.  Luxury Tasting begins at 5:00pm ($100 ticket per person); doors open for general admission at 6:30pm.

Wow! One of the best wine events I have attended in Portland and I attend most of them! The ballroom was enormous so even thought there were a lot of people attending, it never felt crowded. The wine selection was impressive and there was enough food served to call it dinner. Not just your normal cheese either! Spanikopita, quesadillas, chicken skewers, roast beef cut fresh, bruschetta, desserts and more! Well worth the money spent and I would do the luxury tasting again in a heartbeat!
