Brian, sounds great! I've been working on this group for over an hour, so I'm going to take a break. I'll come back to this and follow you down the virtual rabbit hole to find this. Thanks very much for the information!

Julia, I've given some thought to how to deal with us being scattered over DFW.  An idea I had was to help people (especially people new to gardening) figure out where the best local resources for plants, advice, tools, etc. There is a section (board) to the online forum at NorthTexasVegetableGardeners.com called "WHERE" that is organized by location.  (drill down from county, to city, and can get smaller as needed)  The idea is to have information specific to each local area organized to make it easy for others to find, and because of the forum tools, each person can add to and comment on each 'entry', which would be a business or resource.  (so if you liked a store, or a store offered discounts, etc, a reply to that entry can be made, creating a record of that store that is useful to others)

Anyway, wanted to mention it because it might be a good tool to use for this also.  I was hoping to also start doing store reviews and publishing the results, using some sort of standardized grading system....

The forum is open and free for everyone to use, no advertisements or junk on it either.

Hope this can be of help to you and others, thanks for taking the initiative on this too!

Ron McCann has made a suggestion that we see about getting some discounts from garden suppliers. We currently have 333 members, which is a significant buying block. We're somewhat scattered, though, so it would be good to get discounts across our area.
Ron has suggested a committee to look into discounts. I would like to know who is willing to check with businesses in their local area. Please reply with your area, and where you will check.
I will ask at Lowe's, Home Depot, and Calloways in McKinney.
Thanks for the suggestion, Ron!
