Meetup was set up to be social gatherings. Some of us (me included) have made our groups learning experiences. Many are using it for marketing. Organizers can have three groups for $144 per year so one group is less than $50 a year. But some are looking to make money from the group itself and I hate to see that start. . Maybe charge for an occational meeting if an organizer needs to make back the money paid to meetup but don't charge to join the group. Also, would it be a collection nightmare? If it was turned over to paypal or the like, I would not want $1 coming out of my account and I wonder how many people would even join under those circumstances. Again,. I had rather pay for the occational meeting that I think
is worthwhile paying for (and that is really not too many). Interesting poll, Jul;ia. Thanks for setting it up Terry.
