Dear Fellow Chaotians!
It’s been an exciting year so far and we’re just beginning! I’m very proud of our organization that each of us contributes to- on and off the water. We’re a great group of people and I couldn’t ask for more heart and commitment from any of you. You rose to the challenge of the Charlotte Festival, took Lake Lure by storm, and laid it all out in Knoxville and Vancouver!
Your ELT has been working hard to orchestrate a full season from practices to races. As we have grown, so have our needs. As I mentioned at Lake Lure, we have received a sizeable donation towards a new 20 person boat. The cost of the boat is $10,000 without the head and tail. With the generous donation and $2,000 in the bank account to put towards the boat this leaves us $3,000 shy. Our goal is to have the boat on Lake Norman in early to mid July!!
We’ve tried to keep membership fees as low as we could this year, but ask each of you to consider your own budget and consider making a donation to the boat fund; however small or large it may be- every dollar gets us closer to our goal. 
To add more excitement to the mix…you may also know that we have been struggling almost 2 years to get a 501(c)3 status with the IRS. This status allows donations to be tax deductible. I mentioned at Lake Lure that we did not have that status and awaiting a response again from the IRS. I’m overjoyed to announce we received a letter this weekend from the IRS which has granted us 501(c)3 status! Your donation is now tax deductible!! This also qualifies us for matching gift programs with employers. If you are not sure if your employer has such a program or need assistance with matching your donation, please contact your company’s HR department.
Suggestions for fund raisers are also welcomed. We’ve had suggestions such as advertising, BINGO night, raffles and more. Keep the ideas forthcoming. If you have the desire to chair or assist with a particular fund raiser, please reach out an ELT member.
I’m sure with your help we will be able to meet our goal. Thank you for your continued dedication and support for our club!
