"LAGO started with no more than the lake. Standing in the long Florida grass, beneath the bough of a large oak tree, and looking out across a serene and lush Lake Baldwin...a restaurant was conceived.
Nestled at the water's edge, this innovative trattoria gazes out through expansive glass, seemingly a call for a return to an idyllic place immersed in nature. Set into the traditional facade of the new urban development of Baldwin Park; neo-classic cuisine is artfully created in a contemporary, world-class European kitchen and intertwined with a warm and elemental interior theme."
Okay, nice, huh? That is the beautiful and vivid blurb from their website; it describes the restaurant and its atmosphere to a tee. But then there's the food. All of the above would mean nothing if the food didn't live up to the sublime atmosphere. Oh, it does - and then some!
LAGO (Italian for "lake") offers a more northern Italian palette - no heavy red sauces and melted mozzarella over various shaped pastas. No, this is innovative and fresh, eclectic and comforting. Quality traditional ingredients, combined brilliantly - a simple glance at the menu will show that we're in for a treat. See for yourself: http://www.lagobaldwinpark.com/lagodinner.html
Our group was contacted by the manager of LAGO, inviting us to hold an event there. I've eaten there a few times, and loved it - not only is the food menu wonderful, they have a full bar and a very nice wine selection. As I was already aware of LAGO's appeal, the offer from management is to give each event attendee 20% off
of our bills - that sealed the deal.
Come join us on Tuesday, 8/24 at 6:30 and experience LAGO for yourself - this promises to be a wonderful evening!
Please note that we do have a new policy in place. Five to seven days before the event, you will receive an email requesting that you confirm your RSVP by a certain time (usually 24 hours before the event). The way to confirm is to go to the event page (a link will be at the bottom of the email that you receive) and act as though you're going to CHANGE your RSVP - when the selection page pops up, leave the "Yes" radial button checked, and in the notes box below that, simply type CONFIRMED and hit submit. If you do not confirm by the deadline stated in that email, we will change your RSVP to a NO. If that is done and you would still like to attend, you may change yourself back to a YES, provided that there is still space available.
We had some confusion on a couple of recent events where this was done, and we were told that someone hadn't received the email asking for confirmation, yet they HAD received the email saying that their RSVP was changed! Please note that everything is sent to the same email address, whatever you have on file with Meetup.com, so please be on the lookout for emails referencing the events.
This new policy is simply to allow us to give more accurate attendee information to the restaurant management and to cut down on no-shows or last-minute cancellations. As always we recognize that emergencies do happen, and will not hold any prejudice when it comes to that, but if you cannot make an event, we always appreciate your updating your reservation as soon as you know that your commitments have changed. Of course, the "three-strikes-you're-out" policy remains in effect - if you have committed to and been a no-show to three events, the organization team may remove you from the group. If you have any questions about this new policy or of changes made to your membership or RSVP, please feel free to contact the host of the particular event, found next to the location at the top of the event page under "Who's Hosting" (in the case of this event, it's Allison), or Helene, the group's Organizer.
