First of all, WELCOME to the Orlando Area Dining Out Group! Helene and I are thrilled about this new, rejuvenated group and look forward to meeting a lot of new friends and hanging out and breaking bread with old friends as well! We want to keep it fresh and exciting so that you'll keep attending all the events we have planned.

I've been in Seminole County for over 30 years, and I do have a number of locations in mind for the events that I'll be planning, but I'm always open to suggestions. (I seem to have an abundance of Italian restaurants on my list!)

The criteria that I look for in an ideal venue would be a good variety of selections on the menu, the ability to have up to a MAX of 20people at the same table or an area set aside where we can mingle without bothering other diners, not too loud so that we can talk and visit without shouting, preferably a full bar (but not required), GOOD FOOD, and not a chain restaurant unless it's exceptional. And clean, please!

For the events that I'll set up, I'll be focusing on the Seminole County/Winter Park area, leaving the south/downtown side to Helene. Tell me any places that you've been wanting to try, that you HAVE tried and loved, or just anything worth checking out! We want this group to be successful, and in my opinion, it's only successful if everyone thinks so. So, what do you think?

Hi Allison:
Have you ever thought about the Willow Tree in Downtown Sanford German Food). Food is pretty good! Music and laughter...can be a bit noisy however! I am new to the group so this is just a thought!

We actually did a dinner at the Willow Tree last year - it was wonderful! I'll try to schedule another one this year, probably in the fall when it cools back down; we sat outside, and that's really the place to be, and I'm afraid the weather's going to remain this hot for a while. But yes, their schnitzels ROCK! :-)

And Elanor - YES - that one's on the list too - I have some friends who ate at Anatolia last month and raved about it; thanks for sending the link to the menu...we can do that!

It may not be until June that I can get anything new scheduled; my May is already slammed, but keep your eyes open - it won't be long!

The Willow Tree bought the place next to them, and is now 33% larger than you remember, if you were there last year -- so there's plenty of space inside, and yes, the air conditioning works better! :)

A fellow foodie highly recommended this place -- he's traveled a bit and I trust his judgement.
