Tech Talk at Melrose Center

We'll provide a Robotics & Makers "Tech Talk" to the public at the Melrose Center. I expect the audience to be mostly families with small kids, so think about bringing things that move and light up, to get the kids excited.

If you are interested in helping with the talk, please post a reply here, saying that you want to present here and what you want to present... this way we can schedule time for you to present, so that you can do so.

Or, you can also simply attend without presenting ... either way, it would be great to see you there!

And please take pictures to post on the web site... Thanks!

1.  Intros & Introduction to Robotics: electronics, servo motors, etc.

2.  Sumo Bots:

  - Lego Bot

  - Build an RC Sumo Bot: I’ll assemble a sumo bot using inexpensive components, while explaining how to build one at home

3. Demos:

  - Mister Baby, the Talking & Traveling Baby Robot

  - FPV (first person view) Wireless Video Batman Robot

3.  Audience Participation: Let folks drive two of my RC sumo bots

See you there!

Lesson Learned: We need to advertise our events more effectively. The attendance was much lower than I had hoped for... Please share your advice: How can we advertise our events more effectively? I'd really like your help and ideas with this! Thanks!

Oh okay. I didn't realize it was more child focused. It is definitely not entry level stuff and I unfortunately don't have much more than working lights. Looks like I'll have to wait for the next general meeting. Thanks for the consideration though!

Thanks, Alex! I appreciate your offer to share your knowledge. I honestly don't know who will be the audience at the Tech Talk, I just have a feeling it will be families with kids... I may be completely wrong. Feel free to bring your stuff... perhaps we'll have an adult audience. In any case, I am confident that you sharing your work at the regular meeting will be great! Thanks!

I would use photos to show examples of what I mean. This looks like it would be more than 5 minutes so maybe I should keep this for a future meeting or future tech talk.

Thanks, Jim! Five or ten minutes sounds fine... Please just let me know if you'd like to share, and I'll reserve the time in the schedule for you. Thanks.
