The meet up was great! very organized, motivated and intelligent members and contributors, cool projects to show and tell. Lots of knowledge being passed on and learned, great place to network. I am looking forward to the hands on Arduino classes and others workshops to come and to being able to apply my skills and knowledge to the projects. Please let me know about the brainstorming meetings for next year's makers fair project and the NASA challenge team meeting.

PS - Re: preparing for next year's Maker Faire: Starting with the November meeting, we will have a "planning session" at 11AM, before the regular meeting starts... everyone who is interested in helping to plan our activities is welcome to come and share ideas to plan and make the group even better... Please attend the planning session! Thanks!

Missed yet again... this month sounded particularly great, too. Anyways, I am now an iSTEM Ambassador at UCF. That basically means that I am trying to design workshops to introduce K-12 students to a real interested Science, Computer, Mathematics, and Technology. If anyone has any ideas that they would like to send my way, don't hesitate to!

Hi Alex, sorry you couldn't attend... Congrats on working with K-12 STEM education! Re: Ideas: Yes, I have a lot of ideas based on experience with K-12 robotics demos: bring robots that move and preferably drive around; have hands-on demos the kids can play with and interact with; add personality to the bots with things like colorful rubber duckies and/or figurines on each bot; have hardware the kids can touch and play with; add motion, lights and sounds ... I'd be happy to help you and even bring my fleet of robotic demos to help out if desired... just let me know... Keep up the Good Work!!

I plan to give a short presentation either about my tricopter build ... OR ... an Intro to Radio Control (RC)... What would you folks rather see & learn about? A video about my Tricopter is here: http://vimeo.com/20959011
And my Intro to RC would cover the basics of building a radio-controlled ground robot... Please tell me your preferences!

I have a starter quad. I wood love to build my own. Maybe a quick breakdown of the required components? Or how I could incorporate 3d printing into a build? I have a syma X1.

      1 · October 8, 2014

    • Kevin

Thanks, James. I'll bring my tricopter for show& tell, and talk a bit about the components... For 3-D printing: I haven't done that so we'd need input from folks other than me. I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Please be sure we have a sign up for the 3D print giveaway that we advertised during the Maker Faire. We won't award it until November, but we have to ensure we collect entries from those present who want to participate.

I hope to attend after dropping my wife off nearby at an event she is going to at 11 am. I may not be able to stay until the end. I could lead a brainstorm session as we discussed last month but may want to do that in November since I have to be back in Mt Dora by 3 or so.

Jim, I propose that we use the standard meeting sign-in sheet, to avoid having two sign-in sheets. I can scan the sheet & email it to you after the meeting, if you'd like. Thanks, Kevin
