Last book I read was "Low Country Bribe" , C. Hope Clark - Mystery, not bad.... she may have been more pleased at my finding several typos and the inconsistency of her supporting characters eye color if I had read the book BEFORE it was published, but I didn't know her then! : ) I still highly respect "Trinity", Leon Uris though I haven't reread it in recent years it made an indelible impact.
speed/decision making/ more familiarity with the "rules" so I can most skillfully break them : )
Spiritual fantasy, the human condition of mind/ conscience and the energies and existence of what remains unseen but known (sixth sense/fourth dimension)
kill your darlings.... I love beautiful language and images and feelings created by it.... Everyone prefers a bountiful Bougainvillea as long as you trim the doorways and windows. Any story can be reduced to the 500 word or less Query... a story should offer an experience, or why write, why read? I want my darlings to be exceptionally gifted, well-fed and, like a good haircut, trimmed without detection. I feel the visual and emotional conveyance found in poetry should exist in all writing. If a sentence doesn't flow off the tongue when reading aloud, I rewrite it until it does. Timing, cadence, even in public speaking is crucial to the readers understanding and enjoyment of the story.
Hi! I'm Laurie. I've been writing poetry and songs since 7th grade. Now I'm editing my first spiritual fantasy novel. I make my living as a scenic artist, but perfecting and publishing my story is my burning "must do" !
Is this different from 1st question? : ) ... a page-turner : )
