Sarah has generously offered to try to steer the group remotely.  (See her message below.)  I propose we try one meeting that way and discuss how we want to manage things from that point on.

I suggest we meet at Palmano's in Winter Park on Thursday, Aug. 11, 7 p.m.  Rich Palmano has a wi-fi set-up (The Hills Are Alive).  I have a short story I can contribute for critique but will happily step aside if anyone else has an offering.

Can we please have a show of hands on this suggestion?

Meanwhile, the questions Sarah has raised in her message below are the important ones if we want to continue to meet and critique.

I note also that Sarah has a regular meeting at Celebration that is posted on our Meet-up site.  This seems to be for writing and socializing rather than critquing; but if it's convenient, you may want to give it a try.

Let's remember that finding a place to meet has never been a problem for the group. Let's get this back to the topic at hand: who is going to organize the meetings?

It looks like we have plenty of people willing to chip in the $$, but no one willing to take over the group. If you are all agreeable, I could continue as organizer, working with individuals to organize specific meetings. If the location is quiet and has wireless and someone brings a laptop, I could easily participate in the meeting via skype.

But that, of course, is all dependent on people being willing to go to the meetings. Over the past year or so, we've had a core group of 5 that comes, but no one else does - no matter the location. And we supposedly have 128 members. If more don't come to the meetings, I don't see why we wouldn't do as a member suggested privately and move the group off of Meetup.

Let me know what y'all think.
