Have you ever wondered how your beliefs were shaped by what your parents taught you?
Then this book club is for you!

I grew up in a Christian home where my parents told me to believe in God. A series of tragic life events left me questioning if He was out there. Recently I wanted to settle that question on more objective reasons than what my parents believe or my emotional reaction to life events. I embarked to read up on the subject, vowing to give equal consideration to authors with opposing views on the subject.

Then we moved to Orlando and my wife looked into book clubs. Not finding anything as thought provoking as the above subjects, we decided to invite people to join us on our investigation of spiritual topics through a book club.

This book club is not affiliated with any church or denomination. There is no agenda beyond thought-provoking discussion. All views are welcome. Everyone is encouraged to articulate why they believe what they believe but anyone attempting to aggressively convert people to/from their own belief system may be asked to resign.

The application will ask you about your beliefs in hope of filling the club with people of differing views in order to promote deeper discussion. Respecting that faith is personal, there is a "no comment" option.

The plan is to meet once a month with a point/counter-point format the following month. For example:

In Defense of Miracles, Geivett & Habermas v. Looking for a Miracle, Joe Nickell

Excellent hours devours and drinks will be provided by wife for the first meeting at which point we will decide whether we want to take turns with snacks, take a collection for us to provide food weekly, meet at a restaurant, or something else.
