June iOS Developer Group Meetup

We here at Echo have been working closely with Lynx to put on a combined iOS/Android to discuss some great things happening with transit in Orlando. Next week, the June 25th meetup will be hosted at the Lynx Administrative Offices where the CEO of Lynx will address the group and we’ll share how the development community can get involved.

LYNX Central Station
455 N. Garland Ave.
Orlando, Fla. 32801
**Parking is free and available directly across from the Lynx Administrative building (Corner of Garland and Amelia) and you can enter on Amelia Street.

Below is our planned agenda for the meetup:
Andrew Kozlik (Echo Technical Lead) - Opening Remarks
Andrew Kozlik will welcome everyone to the combined event, give an update on local happenings, and give a brief overview of public transportation in Orlando. This includes discussing the new Sunrail and Orlando Bike Share, and will transition into speaking about LYNX.

John Lewis CEO of Lynx - LYNX Data Plans
John will present his plans for open data with LYNX and their goals for partnering with local developers to build transportation applications. This could include past, present, and future initiatives that LYNX is currently undergoing.

Andrew Kozlik - Current LYNX Data
Andrew will go over the data that is currently available to users who are interested in building Lynx applications. This will include an explanation of shapefiles, GTFS, and the varied data available on the LYNX GIS site.

Assorted - Application Demos
As time permits, we would like the community to demonstrate and discuss public transportation related applications they've built or used. I would anticipate 3 or 4 demos.

Please review your RSVP at this time to update your response so that we’re accurately planning for food and drinks. We’re expecting a big turnout, so we want to make sure to have enough for everyone! We’ve updated this Meetup with all the details. If you happen to be a member of both groups, please just RSVP to one of the events. Thanks!

I can't make the meeting tomorrow night. Please post notes from the meeting if you can. I'm really curious about Lynx and their data plans. We're eager to partner with local companies and developers to take on new projects.

I was curious if there's a structure or format to this meeting? Just wanting to know what to expect as it's my first one.

Patrick - there's usually 1 of 3 different formats: 1) one or two longer talks, 2) one talk and a few app demos/discussions, or 3) four to six app demos/discussions. Before the talks/demos, there's usually pizza and drinks and everyone is just hanging out, and after the talks there's more hanging out for anyone that wants to stick around. Hope you can make it out on the 25th!

This month will be a little different as it's a special combined event with the Android meetup, but our typical structure follows what Jon outlined above. Looking forward to meeting you when you come out Patrick

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
