I called 800-myapple since I paid a one-year warranty for my Mac Mini. I tried to upgrade from Xcode 4.3.3 to 4.5.1 with no luck. I followed their instruction but still I find out that I'm still using 4.3.3.

I'm looking to get the latest version of XCode but I'm on Snow Leopard and I'll have to go straight to Mountain Lion since Lion isn't an option unless I buy an "authentic" (who ever knows if they really are) USB key on eBay. I've heard Mountain has a lot of issues, but I'm wondering if it's gotten better. I use my mac for full-time development (mostly web app development).  I use MAMP the most out of all things on my machine. I was wondering if I could just create a Time Machine backup of my Snow Leopard install to go back and restore my machine if I needed to. Apparently people say you'll have to do a full erase and then restore and that'll work. Anyone experience issues upgrading to Mountain Lion? I want to know what I'm getting into before I upgrade. Also if I do the upgrade does it keep everything in place or will I have to scrap things like MAMP and all of my customizations (homebrew and port programs, rvm ruby, custom firefox, etc)?

Your insight is much appreciated. :)
