Whether software patents are good or bad, it seems we are missing some of this story. You can't patent an idea - having a trump card in Blackjack. You can only patent a method, system or apparatus for generating a wildcard to improve the odds in a game of chance. Somebody somewhere must have developed such a system or there is nothing to patent. Patents are expensive. If they have the funds to pursue a patent, then they should put that money into development. I'm all for chasing a dream, but do we need more on-line gambling. Surely there are more worthy apps to create. And I don't think The Donald is going to stand for his name and likeness being used in conjunction with this venture.
