Honestly, I could not agree more. The responses to the emails have been more outrageous than the email itself.

Seriously take your conversations elsewhere. Stop flooding my inbox with your arguing

Alan and Beau...very well put, thank you!

After reading Eric's rather offensive (in my opinion) reply I just couldn't help to add my input.  Eric, while it may be unfortunate that you have had nothing but bad experiences in working with recruiters, I do not feel you should classify "us" all into one category.  Just as we sometimes come across sub par candidates, it is as simple as ...move on.  I happen to take great pride in what I do and I am quite certain that more than not, our service is of great value.

Thank you to all of those who support us and welcome our expertise in their employment/candidate search.

Happy coding!

While we are on the subject of recruiters, I'll give my 2 cents on the matter:

I've gotten literally thousands of recruiter emails over the last 5 years, 99.99% of them are about this quality.  The very worst ones are mis spelled, have very incorrect broken English with improper use of the technology buzzwords they are using.

Here are some interesting "Recruiter tactics" all tech people should watch out for, I have personally experienced all of these before I gave up on recruiters for good:

"resume fishing", you get a form letter for a vague job, you message them, they nab your resume, and it joins a huge pool of resumes.  All this person wanted was your resume, they have no intention of using you to fill that job.   Then another arm of the business does keyword search over the database of resumes, and then you are called if they match your resume.  It explains the phenemenon where you reply to recruiters and there is no action for weeks.

"Oreo cookie maneuver " Several low quality applicants are sent in for an interview, then one top notch candidate is sent in, followed by a group of more low quality applicants.  Most the applicants (you) are the roughage in the oreo cookie maneuver, only one candidate gets to be the creamy filling, and that person knows who he is, if you are not sure you are this person, you are not them.  This is done to lower the expectations of the companies who ultimately pay for placement.

"Bait and switch" you are lured in with a fictitious job at a prestigious company that they don't have a connection with, then too bad it falls through when they send in your resume, then they get you in for some below average companies.

"High pressure psychological tricks" The recruiter makes the interviewee feel as if they have achieved a victory, and that all that has to happen now is the final few things to hook things up! Then they contact you the most ridiculous way possible, calling you at odd hours, using a mode of communication that is very inefficient so you play phone tag.  Recruiter not reachable.   The same thing happens when you have a hungry dog, you can train the doggie to be in desparation mode by dangling a treat close the dog's mouth, it salivates and leaps toward the bone, and you yank it away at the last minute!  Repeat this several times to get the dog into cowering and desparation mode.  So it will do anything just to make the pain go away, they don't realize the owner is causing the pain.  This can be done on humans as well.  The objective being to get the target to take a bad job they otherwise would have laughed at.

There's tons more, I should write a blog post, but that would take hours...  I do hope one of you will disrupt this industry, it's limped on far enough, careers.stackoverflow.com is off to a good start, banning 3rd parties and staffers from their system entirely.  A breath of fresh air from searching careerbuilder or monster or craigslist that are dominated by recruiters who play an endless series of psychologically manipulative games with you.

You are the food.  Until you realize you are the food, and protect yourself.  Godspeed.
