I've just been following this thread and I second Andrew's thoughts. I feel it's a good discussion to have. While I'm a PHP programmer I'm also a business owner and recruit from time to time (and who knows when I may need to go on a job hunt one day). So it's good to hear what other programmer's think about what is acceptable recruiting methods. The dirty recruiting methods Eric mentioned just below me away. I didn't know that was going on. Thanks everyone for your honesty however you feel about it.

Go weekend! :)

Best Regards,
Chris Rizzo

Hi everybody,

I'm really surprised by all the negative feedback everyone's putting into the mailing list. While I understand how annoying it is to have an e-mail flooded with people complaining, it's a good opportunity for David to get feedback from the community so he can figure out the best way to moderate recruitment techniques in the list. There have been some good ideas put forward, and I'm surprised by all the attempts to squash the conversation.

One of the benefits of the mailing list is the opportunity for group members to communicate with the rest of the community about whatever topic they feel is important. We aren't all going to be interested in whatever topic is being discussed, but that doesn't mean that we should exclude everyone from having a conversation if that's what they want to do.

That's probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but there you have it. I hope everyone's having a good Friday. Weekend starts in a couple hours!

New Rule: If you don't like the recruiters email them personally. Don't pollute the mailing list with your complaints.

How dare you put that code all on the same line.. It's like we're all animals on this list. ANIMALS!

Everyone, chill out. Enjoy the weekend. ;)
