Python + BEER == Fun!

It's been forever since I put anything on the calendar for this group, and I feel horrible about it. Y'know what makes me feel better? Python! And beer. Let's put these two primal forces of nerdery together and enjoy an evening of hacking in Python, meeting other Python hackers, and imbibing our favorite frosty beverages (even if that beverage is non-alchoholic). Nothing sloppy, just a friendly happy hour over Python.

    I'm here, if anyone else shows, I'll be the guy with the funny hat. There are others with hats but none as funny. ;)

    Is this still going off even if it's only the 6 of us who RSVP'd?

    Hello all,

    My name is Sabrina from Sonobi, one of Orlando’s fastest growing startups. We are innovating real solutions in the programmatic/real-time bidding space and it’s all powered by Python. From our proprietary ad code web server to our real time bidding platform, data aggregation and reporting, Sonobi runs on Python! We like solving difficult problems and Python allows us to do that efficiently and elegantly.

    We are organizing a meetup sometime this week for everyone interested in the Python language. Along with food and drinks (alcoholic beverages included), we will have several Python coding challenges for you to dive into. You can bring your own laptop and hop on our network, or use one of our workstations here at the office.

    Please email me at [masked] if you would like to join in on the fun!

      Sabrina, why don't you post your proposed meeting to the group? Anyone can propose a meeting; they appear in the "Suggested Meetings" until there are at least three sign-ups or I manually announce it. I've found it's best to give folks a good 2 weeks of notice on a meeting, though. Arranging schedules and such.

      I've suggested a meetup. We would like to have one this week but if that will not work, sometime in the near future for sure.

    David, do you have any of these events that don't involve alcohol? I haven't had good luck with tech meetings in bars, taverns, etc.

      Absolutely. If you prefer, we can have the next one at a Panera or IHOP. Python + Pancakes also == Good Times. ;)

    I've just _suggested_ World of Beer in Altamonte. We could go anywhere, really... As long as there's a table to huddle around and nerd it up. Taps in Winter Park Village is another fine watering hole.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
