Thanks for the suggestion.

We are still in very early stages, there are only 2 partners, one will take care of SEO, marketing, sales and myself who takes care of all technical aspects (development, servers, etc)
I'm looking for somebody to help me with all technical aspects, development, testing, operations, etc.

There will be plenty of work to do as we expect it to grow very fast, probably into a mega-website to compete with the big boys out there.  I'm mostly a back-end developer so I'm looking for a second developer with solid front-end and web 2.0 skills (html, css, js, jQuery, ajax, etc) to give the site a more modern interface (Django templates experience or knowledge a big plus).

The site is in prototype stages with about 90% backend operational but with a simple table based interface just to develop and test the different features.
It runs on a LAMP stack, developed using Ubuntu 10.04 server on Amazon EC2 cloud, Python 2.6, Django 1.2.3, MySQL 5.1, MongoDB, message queues, email and SMS notifications, etc.

This second developer will be a third partner.
We are offering equity ownership and profit sharing, then a very good salary once the venture starts bringing profits.
All other people hired after him will be for straight salary.

Looking to have the site ready for beta testing by the end of this month and into phase I production next month.

Hope to hear from all Django developers soon!,
Carlos

Hey, Karl. Thanks for posting your opportunity to the list! What might help you get feedback is adding some details about compensation and funding... Y'know, where you're at in the startup process. Most of the inexpensive devs in town aren't interested in revenue sharing, just getting paid and building a portfolio, and the big guns are only interested in a deal that's going somewhere. Maybe you could relate some of your strategy for chipping away at Craig's market share? Nothing too revealing, of course, but enough to garner some interest... Just a suggestion,
David

Hello,

I'm a Django/Python software developer in the Orlando area.
I'm looking another Django programmer with solid front-end Web 2.0 skills (HTML, CSS, js, jQuery, ajax, etc) for partnership on a startup I'm working on.

Work is mostly done remotely and you set up your working schedule.
Ideally you will need to be within a day driving distance from Orlando, Florida for face-to-face team meetings on weekends on a need basis.

I have taken the project to prototype stages running and is currently running on a development/test server (Ubuntu server 10.04) on Amazon EC2 cloud.  I developed a prototype table based front end just to develop and test the backend and now I need somebody with solid front end skills to give it a more modern Web 2.0 look and feel. And eventually also help with all aspects of design, development, front and back end, database (MySQL or MongoDB), server operations (EC2 cloud, Ubuntu server 10.04), message queues, email and SMS notifications, etc.

Something similar to http://www.olx.com

The site will have a simple, clean and functional style like facebook, LinkedIn, etc.  There is not much graphics except maybe for a small logo, buttons and icons. But we need photo galleries, thumbnail ribbons, frameless popup forms, etc.

This project is aimed to be the 'craigslist killer'. We expect a fast growth and unlimited income potential!

Please email me back if you are interested so we can discuss the details.

Thanks,
Carlos
