For those of you who attended Wednesday's presentation, as well as

Thanks to those of you who attended, and special thanks to the person
who pointed out that the tic-tac-toe program violated functional
programming ideals by sneak-passing information via a reference to an
array rather than via the function return. That point generated some of
the most interesting discussion and experimentation of the evening.
