'En plein air' outing- Lake Eola

  • March 2, 2013 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

I'd like to create a gathering of various types of artists, perhaps once a month, in various locations where we can create in the same space.  I feel it is important to collaborate and/or be in the presence of others who share common ground.  To me, this would be a great opportunity to see how others approach their craft and where encouragement and discussion can occur.  We do not have to assemble in the same manner every time (using your preferred medium, etc.) but as more people get involved and show interest this could change to reflect the feedback of everyone's experience and suggestions. After all, we strive to have a strong community where everyone's voice can be heard.

For this scheduled event, I encourage those interested to bring their own materials- whether your a musician, photographer, painter, etc. and be inspired by those around you and the landscape in front of you.  There will be limited seating, so if you prefer to sit perhaps bring your own blanket or chair. I will be setting up a table and bringing a few borrowed chairs from friends as my contribution.

If you can not find us: Please look at the location details and map provided OR send a message to me through this event as I'll have my phone with me and I'll make sure you can find us, though I'm sure we'll be noticeable.

Please ONLY RSVP YES if you intend on coming.

IF your plans do change, as life happens, please remember to RSVP NO, so that I can have an accurate count of those attending.

Can't wait to see those I've met and those I've yet to meet!

Just would like to acknowledge Regina, who did a great job with this meet up event. Still trying to figure out how she manage to fit what seems to be about 12 chairs , a table, easel, a huge sketch pad in such a small pretty car?

Regina, so what is the plan? Time and location?

    February 28, 2013

  • maho

If there is going to be an event parking Will be an issue for me, I drive a big van. Have a clear meeting spot selected early would be quite helpful, should I get there a little early.

    February 28, 2013

    • Regina

I fully intended to give everyone at least a day's notice- as area depends on how large of a group we have coming. I will be there early to set-up as I will be bring a folding table and chairs for those who do not or cannot sit on the grass or standing while creating, discussing or enjoying the event.

      1 · February 28, 2013

The location if seating should not be a criteria for where we Will be. This is an outdoor art and painting session, and maybe a little discussion. It would be great if we all bring our own seating, be it a chair or a simple blanket. That way we would not burden one person to bring 14 chairs, hoping 9 would show up. Let us each be self contained, leaving only the food as the variable. This way we can look to assist those of us bringing table or cooler.

    February 28, 2013

  • Brenna

Are you meeting by the oriental gazebo? There is alot of seating in that area.

    February 28, 2013

Thank you for the suggestion; location to be announced later tonight.

    February 28, 2013

    • Regina

You did not miss it, I want to see how many people were going to show. I'll will post location later tonight.

      February 28, 2013

  • Stephen (The P.

Good question, where specifically? It's going to be busy around the lake as I think there is a special event going on there.

    February 28, 2013

    • Regina

There are two events on Sunday but none shown on their website for Saturday

So far we have a spanish omelet and brownies - and drinks - I will bring something also but waiting to see what else is going to be offered. I don't want to duplicate either. Are we meeting across from Panera's?

    February 23, 2013

    • Regina

Actually I was thinking of a particular spot but I'm going to have to set up prior to everyone coming. I'll email everyone the location soon.

      1 · February 23, 2013

  • Regina

I will be borrowing a folding table with chairs from a friend. I am undecided what I'll be bringing but I was also thinking there is Panera Bread across the street if we collectively want to chip in and participate in a group picnic.

Do I still need to bring mine?

      February 22, 2013

    • Regina

This is up to you. It might be nice to have more than one in case people want to use a table for their easels or to work on. I also will be bringing table cloths since I'm borrowing the table.

I have a foldable table I can bring. The last time we met by the farmer's market takes and there were chairs and tables for the public to use. I don't know if these tables and chairs a re available on a Saturday but I'll bring my table anyway.

    February 5, 2013

  • Regina

Thank you for everyone's involvement. Maho- I indicated above that everyone can find me by my stand-up easel and hat etc. I can bring a loaner one as well but it is more for standing on a table. I might be able to borrow a friends long table for the food etc but again not sure. I have an area in mind but I want to see the number of people who RSVP yes and go from there. Looking forward to it.

I have a spare plein air easel if anyone needs to borrow it for the day. I will bring it with me

    1 · February 5, 2013

  • maho

Since we are doing community food (LOL) I think it would be a good idea to know what each person is bringing, so we don't duplicate. I Will bring the drinks. This Will not include sodas.

    February 5, 2013

  • maho

Some of us are working with a sketch book and pencils, I would simply like to have an idea of what the set-up Will look like . So I would appreciate a response from more participants.

THANK you Diane, is there anyone else bringing an easel?

Of curse bringing both an easel and food. The easel is for me to paint most likely acrylic and the food to share most likely homemade brownies.

So far there are nine responses, the question is how many Will actually show? Of those that show up, how many Will actively participate? I wait to see with eager anticipation. LOL!.

Alternately we each could bring something to share, that should be fun.
