    What is a meditation

Meditation  is a period of time away from your everyday activities, pressures, deadlines, distractions or responsibilities, during which you can develop more self-awareness, appreciation for life, clarity, peace of mind, and mind-body healing.

Sometimes meditation retreats focus on cultivating creativity, or to uncovering and healing a particular emotional issue.  Some meditation retreats are religious, and can include prayer, or other spiritual practices. Many are secular in nature and are attended by those who are looking for stress reduction and healing in a new perspective on life.

Why should I go on one?

A meditation retreat creates a memory of feeling whole and good - what your life can be. It’s one of the touchstones for more meaningful life and a new perspective. Meditation retreats are secular in nature yet can be deeply spiritual. It’s safe atmosphere designed to encourage participants to find out what's inside: who they are and what they really want, and to become more intimate with their own awareness and their own life.

The retreats include powerful meditation practices, mindfulness experiences,  There is always time for silence, recreation, and focused discussions and it's guaranteed that you'll discover something new about yourself.

Everyone will dive deep into meditation - whether they are new at it or are seasoned meditators. Meditation is a very subtle yet undeniably powerful practice to create more balance in the body, spaciousness in the mind, and a new appreciation for everything and everyone in your life. Our goal is to teach a deep practice of meditation so you can to create an opportunity to retreat every single day. The meditation itself is the retreat.

Meditation is focused on training your awareness so that you can be more present to your own life and the possibilities available in every moment. This way, when our “real lives” a kick in again when we get home, we can respond rather than react to certain situations.

When you get home, the changes may be subtle at first: you might order something different on a menu, have more patience with your children, or notice you are less concerned about what people think. You might feel more balanced, peaceful, creative or confident. There also could be more profound changes as you explore your relationship to your job, or where you live, or you find  a renewed purpose or passion in life.

Meditation is an excellent way to reduce the stress in your life, without the side effects of medication. Whether you are struggling with cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease, fatigue, insomnia, chronic pain, or numerous other health problems that are worsened by stress, you can proactively learn how to reduce the stress in your life through meditation

    What is meditation?

It is not contemplation, or concentration – those are activities of the mind, and meditation is about going beyond the mind and entering into dimensions of the unknowable.

Osho describes meditation as a state of silent witnessing – witnessing that you are not the body, not the mind, not your emotions or sensations, in fact, that you are not even the ‘you’ you thought you were.

This experience, of witnessing, is a knack – it is just a question of finding and practicing a technique that works for you, and it comes. Because it is something our being already knows. It is just blocked by the logic, rationality and control of our minds, which cannot conceive of anything unknowable.

We all know that meditation has been scientifically proved to be good for us – it lowers blood pressure, relieves stress, helps prevent heart attacks, calms nerves, and brings a sense of balance and harmony to the body/mind, creating a feeling of well-being.

How does it work? Basically because, as the medical experts tell us, most of our illnesses originate in the mind, you can say that disease is a result of a ‘dis-easiness’ we have with ourselves and with our surroundings. The stresses and tensions and repressed emotions accumulated because of the increasingly unnatural way we live our lives. Meditation works because it takes us beyond the mind, to a place of stillness and silence and peace.

Meditation Influences Emotional Processing Even When You're Not  Meditating:   Study

Researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital, the University of Arizona, Boston University, the Santa Barbara Institute for Consciousness Studies and Emory University found that meditation changes the way the amygdala brain region responds to emotional stimuli -- but that this effect on emotional processing takes place even when a person is not in a state of meditation. The amygdala is a brain region involved in emotion and memory processing.

"This is the first time that meditation training has been shown to  effect the  emotional  brain  in the brain outside of a meditative state," study researcher Gaëlle Desbordes, of Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston University's Center for Computation Neuroscience and Neural Technology, said in a statement.

Researchers had study participants undergo one of three eight-week courses: one course was on mindful attention meditation, where they were trained to be more attentive and aware of their thinking, feeling and breathing; one course was on compassion meditation, where they were trained to feel compassion and kindness to other people and themselves; and one course just provided general health information.

Then, 12 people from each group underwent fMRI brain scans as they looked at 216 images that were meant to provoke positive, neutral or negative emotions. There was no mention or instruction of meditation while the study participants were undergoing the brain scans, and they were followed up with after to make sure they were not meditating while undergoing the fMRI scans.

The researchers found that the people who took either of the meditation courses experienced decreased activity  in the amygdala  response to images that provoked negative emotions -- a sign that they were coping well with stress and were experiencing stability of their emotions. But people who only went through the health education class experienced an increase in the amygdala in response to images that provoked negative emotions.

    • Who is Osho?

Osho  is a contemporary mystic from India who has been transforming,  and impacted the life of millions of people through his unique meditation techniques as well as through his talks which have been transcribed and are already available as books, throughout the world in more than 50 languages.Osho is the most prolific author on this planet with over 650 books (64 million words) in print! He teaches creativity because that is the very essence of God.  Osho left his body in 1990, yet the number of listeners, and Osho friend he has acquired has been growing exponentially.  The reason is his wisdom takes you beyond time and causation, in the enlightened world that is beyond the mind.Just reading any of his books, you start to become a whole human being again because you're connecting to his consciousness which is at home, unified with Divine Source. The new man that Osho speaks about is one who is an authentic human being.  Who is blend of a Zorba the Greek and Siddartha the Buddha. Someone who can let their hair down and dance in the moonlight while peacefully watching the swans sitting on the lake. After His enlightenment at the age of 21, Osho completed His academic studies and spent several years teaching philosophy at the University of Jabalpur. Meanwhile, He traveled throughout India giving talks, challenging orthodox religious leaders in public debate, questioning traditional beliefs, and meeting people from all walks of life. He read extensively, everything he could find to broaden his understanding of the belief systems and psychology of contemporary man. At one time, he had one of the largest private libraries in the world.
In the early 1970”s, the first westerners began to hear of Osho. By 1974, a commune had been established around Him in Poona, India, and the trickle of visitors from the West was soon to become a flood. In the course of His work Osho had spoken on virtually every aspect of development of human consciousness.
    • Osho developed 112  new forms of active meditation  The best known is Dynamic Meditation which often starts with strenuous physical activity followed by silence and celebration. These were expected to lead the individual to overcome repression, lower their personal inhibitions, develop a "state of emptiness", and attain enlightenment. The person then would have "no past, no future, no attachment, no mind, no ego, no self." Anti-cult groups claimed that he urged his disciples to sever their connection to their families of origin. It is true that he felt that the institution of the family was out of date and that it should be replaced with alternative forms of community and ways of caring for children. However, he actually encouraged individual disciples to make peace with their families.    Certainly a proposal to existence - that it is everyone's birthright to enjoy that same oceanic experience of true individuality. For that, Osho says, 'There is only one path, which goes inwards, where you will not find a single human being, where you will only find silence, peace.'
A conclusion? There are no full stops in the Osho vision, but a helping hand towards understanding ourselves: 'I would like to say to you: Science is the ultimate value. And there are only two kinds of sciences: one, objective science, that decides about the outside world; and two, subjective science.

  • Zaki De L.

The tradition of Tantra, or Tantric Buddhism, has existed in India from as early as the 5th century. The message of Tantra endorses Osho's perspective: that only through total acceptance of ourselves can we grow. In Osho's understanding, Tantra is one of the greatest of man's visions, a religion that respects rather than destroys individuality, and is an extraordinary method of expanding inner consciousness
