What to wear?
On their first visit, most people wear normal workout gear such as shorts or track pants and a T-shirt or sweatshirt. Climbing shoes are recommended as the sticky rubber on the soles helps balance on smaller holds. If you don't have one, you can rent it for $5 on site.

Additional Info:

Every participant (belayer/climber) who uses the facilities at Coyote Rock Gym must fill out a waiver form that is provided by our insurance company.

For every climber using our roped routes, they need a partner on the ground managing the ropes for the climber's safety. This person is called a "belayer." In order to climb and/or belay at Coyote Rock Gym, you will need to complete the Introductory Lesson.

I have only rock climbed twice......the lesson doesn't take very long and off you go......This event is all in fun ......so let's go and have fun.

I go just about every Wednesday night since I am a member of the ACC (Alpine Club of Canada) and as such, get a 50% discount on the top-rope day pass (pay only $7.50 instead of $15).

We get the same rate as a group. We are renting shoes and a harness on top of the day pass. No membership fees :) I am also a member of ACC

I am usually there every Wednesday night from about 7:30pm to 9:30-10pm-ish. Not sure about this Wednesday since I woke up Monday with an itchy throat. :-(
Been climbing for a while -- wall, rock and ice. So if anyone needs help and I am there, you can find me and ask.
    Have fun!

Remember to use your legs! Think of how you would climb up a ladder. You do not pull yourself up with your arms.
Also it is important to not forget to .. keep breathing.

Looks like we have another great turn out for tomorrow!!!! If it is your first time at Coyote, you will need to fill out a waiver. To save a bit of time, you can download a copy from their website and fill it out in advance: http://www.coyoterockgym.ca/

I would also like to suggest that we change partners every so often during the evening so that we can get to know each other better.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Hi Becky, Do you need lessons? If you don't need lessons, then I say no problem. Otherwise the lesson is given all at the same time.
