Skepticamp Ottawa 2013

The Ottawa Skeptics are pleased to present Skepticamp Ottawa 2013!

If you don't know what a SkeptiCamp is, it follows the unconference model of being driven by the participants. All speakers are locals who have something interesting to say about something they find interesting.

The event will consist of around 12 presentations, each lasting 10-15 minutes with 5 minutes for questions (so a 20 minute time slot per person).

This year we will be at the awesome Shopify Lounge!

Check out the wiki for details about the location, talk summaries, and more.

I unexpectedly have to teach a class until 12pm tomorrow. Can I still come afterwards or is there no entry after 12?

Yes, that's no problem. Come in or out as you wish, it's very informal.

Anyone happen to know what the parking is like there on Sunday? Where to park etc.?

    February 19, 2013

    • Diane B.

I guess it will depend on how much snow is left on roads or how many parking spaces there are left on Sunday.

For Sunday evening events in the Market, I have always been able to find free street parking within a couple of blocks of where I needed to go (even in the winter). For those who prefer not to use the garage, hopefully Sunday afternoon will be similar. (Now that Winterlude is over, things will likely be a bit quieter than they have been.)

Hey Stephen, there's certainly a lot to be skeptical about in politics, but skepticamp isn't about politics, it's about science. The paranormal is a great way to introduce skeptical thinking because just about everyone is on board with us when we talk about how people can get fooled into believing in UFOs and such.
