Monthly Meeting - Web Design, UI & UX, Development, Mobile and more

For this month meeting, I would like to invite Matt Tanner as a guest speaker.

Matt grew up with digital. Owner of Firestarter Digital, his background includes everything from business management and marketing to design to programming. Self-taught in web and design development – he also volunteers with local not-for-profit organization Code For Kids and runs in his spare time.

About the presentation: Rapid Prototyping: Build Better Websites While Saving Time & Money

Whether you’re new to building websites or have been doing it for a while, rapid prototyping can help make your processes more efficient. With a focus on front-end development, we’ll go through what rapid prototyping is, tools like Foundation and SASS, and best practices to follow in ensuring your sites are optimized for mobile and accessibility. We’ll review a practical example in a case study following the typical rapid prototyping process and how it significantly reduces design, development and review time without compromising quality or compatibility.

Design critique submissions: We will take design submissions from the group and give it a usability and design critique ending with a list of suggestions. If you have designs for us to review, please send them to me.

Hey everyone - I've uploaded the PDF of the presentation to: - Enjoy!

Thanks for the PDF, however the links to all the resources on slide 62 did not render for me. Perhaps it's just me but could you send all those resources?

Your overview last night was a perfect fit for me and I'm looking forward to diving into the details of your tool set to bring my understanding of how to execute websites up to speed!

      - Cheers, Marc

just cut and paste them into your browser's location bar. Generally in PDFs if there is no www. or http:// with a URL it won't 'automatically' render as a clickable link. But cut/paste saves the day!

This email just came in and we were just discussing the book 'Digital Adaptation' last night. Here's a link for those of you who don't get Smashing Mag emails.

I won't be able to make it tonight, but I would be grateful if anyone from the group could recommend a Developer/Programmer to help me with some Wordpress setup and integration.
Not an exteme amount of work, but definately worth a couple hundred bucks.

BTW - Tonight event would have been interesting if could attend, because I am of of those UX Designers that believe in wireframes and concepts before any code. I've had this discussion with my colleagues over at ZURB, the founders of Foundation (and some say Bootstrap)...should be a fun night for all those attending.
