It was lots of fun, with a great country band and plenty of loot. Overall, it was a great start for the FOLKRUM initiative to bring a community music venue to Ottawa. Thanks to all those who attended and our partner, SAW Video Media Arts Centre.

Here's one reminder and one announcement:

Reminder: We're still contemplating getting together again on either the 3rd or 10th of December for a general discussion. Please let us know if you are interested. If we don't get enough takers, we'll prepare for a meeting in January of the new year.

Announcement: Local jazz singer Gerri Trimble will be performing in two concerts. At Zolas on Saturday, November 30 with pianist Karen Rauh, and then on Saturday, December 14, with guitarist Rob Martin. Music starts at 630 pm and there's lots of yummy food options. Zolas is at 194 Robertson Road; reservations can be made via www.zolas.ca

On Tuesday, December 10 Gerri will be singing a short set to kick off the gala fundraiser for Niigaan: In Conversation, which is taking place at the National Arts Centre. Niigaan works towards the continual positive development of the relationship between Indigenous Peoples and non-native Canadians. Info on this important event can be found at www.niigaan.ca.

Are any of the other creative thinkers interested in an early December event? Let's see if we can get a larger number out to the Meetup before we commit. Right now, either of those dates -- Dec. 3rd or 10th looks good. Location to be determined.

Since the Draft Pub worked so well for a venue last time, how about we try that again perhaps on the 3 or 10 Dec. at 5:30pm-7:30pm? It really is right off the 417 for easy access from either direction and lots of parking in the same Parkade second floor. I was lucky enough to get a free draft pub parking spot.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
