Re: [OttawaRuby] Anyone up for a Lightning Talk / something else tomorrow?

Sorry for the extra email.

Alright, we've got another Lightning Talk booked: Tristan Hume will be giving a talk titled "Hacking Together a Gem in 10 Minutes."

If anyone else would like to give a talk, please fill in this form. We may have space for one more this month, otherwise we'll be booking for next month or later (you can choose the month via the form).

Thanks everyone,
The Ottawa Ruby Team

That sounds great Stephen, thanks! :)

We still have room for one more Lightning Talk. If anyone else is interested, please holler back.

Thanks,
Mike

Hey

If we are stuck and there is interest I can talk about the GitHub-Analytics (https://github.com/StephenOTT/GitHub-Analytics) I have been slowly working on.
Purpose us to provide project management type of reports and analytics that are completely missing from the GitHub Issue queue.
Issues, Comments, Events, Org and User data, etc is downloaded into MongoDB and using the MongoDB Aggregation framework, analytics are generated.  Ruby is used to capture the data, process into the correct formats and pass into Mongo, as well as Sinatra is being used to generate a simple web app along with ChartKick (Which I am rebuilding with ChartKick founder) to generate all of the charts and graphs.
Interesting outcomes have been some of the views, but more so about limitations or odd design choices with Mongo and especially the GitHub API.

Hey everyone,

We may not have any Lightning Talks this month (we only have one tentatively scheduled; the others got postponed or cancelled).

Is anyone up for giving a Lightning Talk tomorrow?

If so, please either reply back here, or fill in this short form to let us know.

Or, if anyone has an idea of something else they'd like to see after the break instead (one suggestion was group help to fix bugs, or code reviews on the big screen), please let us know with a reply to this email or a comment here.

In either case, we hope to see you at tomorrow's meetup (details and RSVP here)!

Thanks,
The Ottawa Ruby Team
