ZOMBIE INFESTED 5K Obstacle Course Race!!!!! Run for your lives!!!!

Escape from the running dead!!

Run For Your Lives is an apocalyptic 5K obstacle race. But you’re not just running against the clock — you’re running from brain-hungry, virus-spreading, bloody zombies.

Protect your brain and run for your life. This is one race where your legs giving out are the least of your problems. Run For Your Lives is a first-of-its-kind event, one part 5K, one part obstacle course, one part escaping the clutches of zombies — and all parts awesome.

Runners will navigate a series of 12 obstacles throughout a 5K course in an attempt to reach the finish line — all while avoiding zombies. At the end of this adventure race, you get to celebrate survival (or zombie transformation) with live entertainment and music, local celebrities, vendors, food, and of course, beer!

Basic Survival

  • Before the race, you will be given a flag belt, just like the overly intimidating game of flag football. These flags represent your health.
  • The zombies want to take your flags and maybe eat your brains.
  • If you lose all your health flags, you die. And the zombies win.
  • Health bonuses will be hidden throughout the course. If you find one and carry it to the finish, it will save your life.

What You're Up Against

  • Throughout the 5K obstacle race, there will be 12 man-made and natural obstacles for you to complete. Runners may choose NOT to complete an obstacle, BUT any runner who skips an obstacle will not be eligible for prizes.
  • There will be zombies. Their job is to chase you and eat you — but mainly go after your health, in the form of your flag belt. Avoid the zombies to keep your health flags.
  • Use speed, strategy and your intact brains to make it to the FINISH LINE with at least ONE FLAG INTACT. If you finish with zero health flags, your time will be recorded, but you will not be eligible for awards.

How You'll Do It

  • There will be a start line, and a finish line, but what happens in between is up to you. There are multiple routes to reach the finish. Choose wisely, or your 5k might turn into a 10k.

Krazy Lifers: Let's register for the 3:00 wave. We'll arrange carpools closer to the event and will purchase the camping package so that we can recover and enjoy the bonfires of the apocolypse!!!

The camping package is an additional $20 per person.  This package gives each camper access to set up camp in the designated camping area within the Run For Your Lives’ race property.

The camping area will expand after the race portion of the event concludes.  All food and beverage needs will be satisfied at Run for Your Lives and the Apocalypse Party. We will also be serving breakfast for our campers on Sunday morning.

There will be a number of community campfires for everyone to enjoy. If you would like to have your own fire, please bring a small grill or an above-ground fire pit.  Ground fires will not be permitted.

First time doing a race?? NO WORRIES, you're in good company!! Several of us competed (and i use that word loosely!) in the RunAmuck back in June...we walked, sometimes rolled, sometimes took a break to make mud angels or grab a beer....we did complete the race...but i think we may have completed it with the race that began after us..lol!!!

Register at Run for Your Lives:

$77 from November 14, 2011 until March 18, 2012
$87 from March 19, 2012 until April 13, 2012 (Registration Closes!)

Where is all this fun happening?? In Our Krazy Life of course!! Road trip to Boston with your new friends...plenty of time to train for this...run a little, watch zombie movies...run some more.

ATTENTION BOSTON PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS: Yes, parking for this weekend’s event is a few miles offsite. No, we’re not trying to wear you down before you even start the race. There will be free shuttles running all day long, to take you back and forth between the parking lot and the event grounds. As mentioned in the email, plan to arrive at least two hours before your scheduled wave to allow for parking, packet pick-up, travel to the start line and time to take in all the gory sites.

I may have to downgrade you to a 4 star accommodation :). Also, are all the cars full? If so, I'll either hire a car or take the train.

    May 1, 2012

  • Denyse

    April 30, 2012

  • Denyse

Ok guys Seb and I put up my tent yesterday! Besides the pretzel stains (don't ask me) we are good to go. My guess is it sleeps 8 easy so there is plenty of room for anyone who would is planning to camp after. Can't wait a BIG SLUMBER PARTY!! Is everybody ready?!?!?!

    April 30, 2012

  • Mike G

I noticed that even the Running time slots are starting to fill up. I signed up for 3:00pm run as noted.

    March 14, 2012

  • Sebastian

Ok Denyse, sounds good. BTW guys I just saw this at the "Camping" section of the page. "No outside food, beverages, or alcohol will be permitted onto the grounds. All food and beverage needs will be available for purchase at Run for Your Lives and the Apocalypse Party." So I guess this means we won't be able to bring our blender huh? :-(

    March 12, 2012

  • Denyse

Sebastian, before you rent stuff, lets see what people have and are willing to share. I know I have extra sleeping bags and will need to check where I stand with tents and poles. I always seem to lose those. LOL What else do you need?

    March 12, 2012

  • Sebastian

"REI" in Norwalk. http://www.rei.com/stores/135 . The pricing is reasonable you can see it here http://www.rei.com/stores/renta... .

Hey Guys, sorry for the delayed response but i had a "Krazy" weekend (He he he...). OK, I'm a bit confused. I'm seeing this on the page "Krazy Lifers: Let's register for the 3:00 wave. We'll arrange carpools closer to the event " but some of you posted 2pm. (??) @Laura yes, I'm running and I registered for the 3pm race. @Denyse you better bring a lot of marshmallows ! :-D ohhh great! leave the drinking to me! Sure!! LOL! @Everyone I'll be renting the gear from...

    March 12, 2012

  • Jen

hey guys... sorry for the confusion, at the time we suggested the 2pm wave we assumed all of us would be running. luckily you runners are able to transfer your time slots up till april 13 so, if you want to, go ahead and transfer to the 3pm race...but otherwise we'll just all meet up after the race...at the apocalypse party!

    March 11, 2012

  • Denyse

Overnight camping! We will need to work out gear and goodies closer! But I am assigning the drinks to Sebastian now~

    March 11, 2012

  • Laura

I remember reading that too and getting confused. Let me know what to do to maximize the OKL fun! Thanks!

    March 11, 2012

  • Laura

oh duh! it's only right there, big as day!!! Is that overnight camping or just a camp spot for hanging out after the race and then drive home that same night? Sorry for all the questions, trying to get the logistics arranged.

    March 11, 2012

  • Denyse

Jen just noticed that we are signed up for 2:40-6. Do you think this mean we don't get to chase our fellow OKL's if they are running at 2:00?

    March 11, 2012

  • Denyse

(Krazy Lifers: Let's register for the 2:00 wave. ) Yay Laura is coming too!!! I think that everyone signed up for the 2:00 wave. Don't forget to sign up to camp out with us too! I'm bringing the marshmallows!

    March 11, 2012
