FREE SCREENING: 'Cosmos' Episode 5: Blues for a Red Planet

We're very excited to welcome Chris Vorhees, Vice President Spacecraft Development at Planetary Resources as our guest expert for episode five.

Episode Five: Blues for a Red Planet
Starting off with a history of public speculation on Mars, the episode then moves to early experiments in rocket-building, and then on to the Mars probes' search for life. The episode ends with the possibility of terraforming, colonization, and manned missions to Mars.

Mr. Voorhees has played an integral role in both the Mars Exploration Rover and Mars Science Laboratory projects. Voorhees served as Chief Engineer for mechanical assembly, integration and testing for NASA’s $2.5 billion Mars Science Laboratory (MSL). At Planetary Resources, Mr. Voorhees leads the technical team in implementing the detailed design, development, integration, and operation of the company’s spacecraft line of products.

A big thank you to the Museum of Flight for hosting this event!

Chris is a great speaker with experience working on many other Space Exploration missions than just missions to Mars.

Hey guys! I'm here for a year on military orders and happy to find a group like this. I don't have a car with me, but I'll do my best to find a ride out there! When I was a little boy everytime I heard of a new star being discovered it was the coolest thing ever! (Unfortunately I'm far too young to have been around for the moon landing) About a year ago I regained my enthusiasm for space, thanks to Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson and reading his book "Space Chronicles." Excited to watch an episode of 'Cosmos'!
