Horseriding Fun Day

Experienced horserider? Never riden before but want to give it a go? Then this day is for you!

Held at Warwick International School of Riding at Guys Cliffe, Warwick, the day runs from 11.15am to 4.30pm, with a break for lunch (please bring your own packed lunch) and costs £60 per person.

If you have your own riding hat and boots, then bring them along. If you don't then hats will be provided, but please wear wellies or a boot with a low heel.

Riders will be initially assessed and non-riders will be put into their own group, with more experienced riders in a separate group for the morning.

After lunch we have gymkhana games - every one takes part, but don't worry if you are new to riding. It's great fun and you'll all have a chance to win a rosette!

We have a maximum of 15 places, but I need to know asap whether you are going to attend, with payment being due a few weeks beforehand - I will send out details to people booking a place.

This is a great fun day!

I'm 6' 3" and I've only ever ridden about 3 times and even then it was basically just me sat on a horse being led around by someone.

    April 24, 2013

  • Rebecca S.

Thanks to all who have replied to my email requesting your height and riding experience. I'd be grateful if the rest of you could reply asap so I can inform the stables. There are still six slots left - please rsvp if you wish to join us!

    April 23, 2013

    • Holly

I'm 5ft 9in and used to ride every week when I was younger but haven't for a few years now. I could do all, walk, trot, canter, jump. Sorry about the late reply. H

    • Rebecca S.

      Thanks, Holly - no problem!

      April 24, 2013

  • Dee

Have to pull out of this, sorry but it's better I keep the peace with my family, I've broken so many bones riding and they're not convinced this is a safe ride around, which it is! Maybe another time.

    April 15, 2013

    • Rebecca S.

Hi Dee, that's a shame. I hope none of my comments have put you off? Beginners are NEVER expected to do anything they wouldn't want to do, or people coming back to riding after a while. The schools all have a special sand, so are soft, but new people rarely fall off. The horses are all very safe and the focus is on enjoying yourself! As far as the gallops are concerned, the owner would only let people go round if she was sure they were a) competant enough and b) in control of their horse. Sometimes we just walk round! She wouldn't make you go round at a trot if you weren't capable of doing it. I, too, have broken my arm horseriding, but that was through jumping crazy fences years ago. This stables is excellent at encouraging you to get your confidence back. No problem if you really don't want to do it, but a shame to miss out. Your family are wlecome to come and watch, by the way! There are safe viewing areas

      April 15, 2013

    • Dee

None of your comments have put me off at all, I'm very experienced and owned my own horses until 2 years ago, one was a Grade B showjumper, all 16hh plus. I miss riding loads and I know this is the safest and best way to have more riding experience, everyone will love it and probably become addicted like myself.

      1 · April 15, 2013

  • Paul K.

Can someone clue me in. I thought a gallop was something you did on a horse not somewhere you took it to gallop.

    April 14, 2013

    • Paul K.

Just re-read my post there. I'm not trying to name drop the brand of my boots. It purely is just a question about suitability. Honest.

      April 14, 2013

    • Rebecca S.

They should be fine, Paul, as long as they have a small heel - this is for safety reasons (ie to stop your foot going right through the stirrup!)

      April 15, 2013

  • Di

Hi Rebecca, if there is the opportunity to ride round the gallops count me in too!

    April 14, 2013

    • Rebecca S.

Hi Dinah - what usually happens is at the end of the morning session, everyone gets to ride round the mile-long gallops, but this is at the discretion of the lady who runs the stables. Sometimes, if there are several experienced riders, she gives us the opportunity to canter round in two's, otherwise, people who are able to, all trot round together in a group. I can certainly request that we do one or the other

      April 14, 2013

  • Paul K.

Rebecca, what are the chances of me galloping to the Black Beauty theme tune by the end of day?

    April 13, 2013

    • Rebecca S.

Lol! Well, Paul, you'd need to be in control of your horse first! However, I'm sure you will be able to go round the gallops - whether it is cantering, galloping, or more likely, trotting, depends on you.......

      April 13, 2013

  • Holly

I'm really looking forward to this :)

    April 12, 2013

    • Rebecca S.

Great! You'll love it! Have you ridden before? No problem if you haven't - you will soon learn!

      April 12, 2013

    • Holly

Yeah I have, lots when I was younger, but only twice since in my 30's! Saw it and can't wait! Thanx x

  • Dee

Are the horses we will be riding bomb proof old dobbins....please!

    April 11, 2013

    • Rebecca S.

Hi Dee. All the horses are lovely - for beginners the horses are very well behaved so there's no need to be worried!

Would love to join you, but I'm on holiday :(

    April 10, 2013
