The Sacred Departed Tour | Woodlawn Cemetery

Is it performance Art? Is it a discovery? ... not sure, but I am sure it will be spooky and mysterious, a few days before Halloween.

Actors and poets channel the spirits of those now departed for an outdoor toor-meets-theatre experience.

Halloween evokes scary and mysterious sentimes in the United States. But, in other cultures, the holiday has sacred connotations. Halloween goes beyond the spooky and mysterious to the spiritual and the sacred on this tour developed with folklorist Elena Martinez of City lore.

This twilight tour will explore multiple perspectives of the Halloween season. Anticipated visits includes: The Belmont Mausoleum, where Alva Vanderbilt Belmont rests, along with a discussion of the family's Spiritualist beliefs; the Woolworth family mausoleum, inspired by the Egyptian Necropolis, or "City of the Dead".

Attendance is limited by availability of tickets on the Conservancy website.

Love what they did - The Strauss vignette was my preferred one. Always fun to discover a place another way.

Hey Christian how long will this tour take?

Not sure how long the "art happening" will be but my guess is that you will be able to leave without being noticed if need be ;-)

Meetup has changed the way organizers can send emails so I can't target only the "want a spot" aka waiting list so it goes to all ... if you are interested to join us on Saturday, go ahead, and register online http://www.woodlawnconservancy.org/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/event/info&Itemid=177&id=23&reset=1. The more the merrier. Let me know if you got a ticket and I will update your RSVP to attending so we can find each other.

    I just registered.

I attended a midnight reading of horror stories at Edgar Allen Poe's grave site in Baltimore a number of years ago. It was a great event hels during The World Science Fiction Convention.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
