“Out And About Orlando” RULES
These are news and rules regarding “Out And About Orlando” Meetup group in order to ensure current and potential members if it is a good fit for them and if the values of the group are mutual with its members to avoid misunderstandings or confusion.
ABOUT US: “Out And About Orlando” is a group about venues, people, what is happening in Orlando and outside of it. It’s a group to go out, have fun, and meet like-minded people while at it. Therefore, if you know of an event happening or a new restaurant, let the Organizer know, recommend venues, things to do, and don’t forget to Vote on our Polls. We want to know what kind of events you are interested in and offer more options to our members. This group will not exist if events don’t appeal to its members. Recommending a venue doesn’t mean you automatically volunteer to Host/Organize it, unless you express interest of Organizing and have proven to our group that you are a responsible adult.
ORGANIZERS WANTED: Would you like to Host events with our group? Are you good with people, organized, friendly, and social? If so, please, let us know. We would love to have you!:-) QUALIFICATIONS: Must be Honest, reliable, punctual, high Integrity, respectful, well-mannered, and friendly. You must have attended three (3) Meetup events with our group “Out And About Orlando”, have a clear profile picture of yourself (your face, members must be able to recognize you), and your real name (first name only is acceptable). This is a voluntary position, there will be no compensation, however, you get to meet some wonderful people and get some leadership experience under your belt. You may not solicit/promote products or services to members of this group. Exception: if you currently teach classes (health, fitness, art, business, cooking, etc.;ex. yoga, self-defense, exercise program, hang-gliding, ceramic classes, painting, etc.) and are licensed and registered with the state of Florida and/or a National association for that trade.
DEAL OF THE WEEK: Enjoying up to 90% OFF of our favorite places around Orlando. We pick a type of cuisine or event or class from websites such as www.Groupon.com, www.LivingSocial.com, www.HalfOffDepot.com, Foursquare. We will create a Meetup event for the deal that is picked, and whoever wishes to participate is welcome to purchase a discount voucher from the website. If you don’t, you are still welcomed to join us for the event; we know sometimes the deal can sold out in hours. If you are not familiar how it works, please, check the websites for details. Example: We see a good Italian restaurant on one of the websites; the deal is pay $15 and get $30 worth of food at that restaurant. We create an event and email you to let you know of the deal. You can ignore the email or check the deal, if you like it - buy it and/or RSVP for the Meetup event. We are not affiliated with those websites, just like deals and getting discounts. (If I am going out to eat and know I’ll order $30 dollars worth of food, I love it when I only spent $15 for it, no reason to skip on a dessert or appetizer; it’s like getting one for free.)
RULE 1: There is NO Monthly or Annual Membership fee for our Meetup. Our events are free; however, events that require reservations and ticket admissions from now on will require a down payment. In the past members would RSVP for events, change their RSVP to “NO” in the last minute or NOT SHOW UP AT ALL. Wasting the time of Organizer and his/her hard-earned money getting to event and purchasing a ticket, waiting to find out no one bothered to show up.
RULE 2: For NO SHOWS: RSVP-ing “Yes” for an event and not bothering to change your RSVP to “NO” or NOT showing up (No Show) will result to Organizer reporting you to Meetup website, which may result in suspending your account for all groups you belong to. You will be reported as a “fake profile” and your IP Address and phone blocked from accessing any Meetup events. Use a calendar to keep yourself organized or sign up to receive text-alerts from Meetup every time you have an event to remind you. Members who have already been to events are given two “No Shows” leeway (since we’ve met you) before being banned. However, new members, “No Shows” will not be tolerated. We strive to protect our group and members from spammers and fake profiles – you will be deleted. There are so many solutions to help a person remember, we give a 12 hr leeway, if we don’t hear from you something like “sorry, couldn’t make it” (no reason needed, we know life happens), you’ll be banned and reported to Meetup. There is no excuse for not letting know the Organizer that you won’t show up (unless an emergency happens and is why you are given a 12 hr leeway to give notice).
RULE 3: HARRASSMENT REPORTS: To ensure the safety of each member, you are only allowed to contact Members of this group if you have met them face-to-face and interacted with them in any of our events you attended. If a member emails you or comments on your profile before you were introduced personally, please, let the Organizer know and forward any correspondence from that member, we will report him/her to Meetup for harassment. This is for security and to protect privacy of members. WHY TO BE AWARE: If you get an email and respond back, that person has your personal email and can sell it and/or flood it with unwanted Spam. Most popular example is when a member you’ve never met finds you interesting and wants to get to know you. This way this person can extract information from you (likes, favorites – information that is usually on your Security Questions of your bank account and credit cards) that you may not realize you are giving away. How many of you answered questions like “What’s your favorite color?” or “Where are you from?”(aka “What city were you born at?”) and use those same questions as your “Security Questions” of your bank account? NOTE: Members can always contact Organizers with questions and comments before attending meetings that are related to our group and vice versa. In the event an Assistant Organizer behaves in a way that is not appropriate or breaks a rule, please, let know Organizer Jordan ASAP.
RULE 4: NO SOLICITATION: Our group is about having fun, enjoying our time, and getting to know wonderful people while at it, NOT being “sell-pitched”. Therefore, you may not contact other members to solicit unwanted business and/or services, see Rule # 3. If you met in person and exchange business cards, that is implied that both parties are interested in each other’s business and this rule does not imply. If you gave your contact information, but not to be solicited - you were misled, just say so to that person that you are not interested. We are no longer children. If the person doesn’t take “NO” for an answer, let us know and we will take the necessary precautions (ex: report him/her to Meetup and ban them from our group). “No” means “NO”. You, however, are responsible to report the person to state agencies if needed be or gets to that level (RARE cases, ex. Stalking, etc. we are not trying to scare you, but there are psychopaths out there somewhere). Members, if you want to solicit business we recommend joining Business-oriented groups on Meetup since this group is to unwind, relax, and have fun.
RULE 5 – Members are required to have a clear picture of themselves and no “offensive” changes to the name we already know you as. You can change pictures as long as it’s you in them and a clear headshot of you. Organizers must be able to identify who you are. Exceptions to name is when you decide to use your full name instead of first name or vice versa, however, if you go from a name to character or vulgar description, if we don’t know who you are – you will be deleted, with a note from Organizer why you were deleted. The same applies for profile pictures. If you have to hide your identity – you shouldn’t be on Meetup.
RULE 6 - RESPONSIBILITIES & LIABILITIES - Members are responsible for their own behavior and acts.
GOLDEN RULE: Treat others as you you’d like to be treated. Respect others and their views without prejudice, you do not have to agree with them or like them, but mutual respect of differences is encouraged. You can’t force someone to like you, at least you can be kind to them, and be known as kind and strong.
!!! Important: By Joining “Out And About Orlando” you are acknowledging that you are a responsible adult. By RSVP’ing “Yes” to any of our event means you understand what the event is about, have checked the website for details, know the address and location to event and have made a reasonable effort checking directions to it before it takes place. For Directions and parking, please, call the venue. Organizers and Event Host are no longer able to respond to last minute calls and giving directions. We don’t want them getting into an accident while driving, miss a turn, and be late, because of responding to calls and texts. Any questions you may have will be answered days before the event, not the day of. We want you to understand that Organizer and Event Host are volunteers, who have a job during the day and may not always be able to check their phone the day of event. They will be able to respond 5 minutes before start of event, during the event, and 24 hours before event. RESPONSIBLE ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION: You are responsible for your own consumption, paying your tab, and having a designated driver or safe way (taxi, hotel room) to get home. No one should have to babysit you. DRINK/PERSONAL PROPERTY WATCH: You are responsible for watching your drink and making sure what you consume is what you want. That includes watching the Bartender how they prepare your drink. Do not leave your drink or personal property with anyone in order to go to a bathroom, take it with you or order another drink when you come back. HEALTH RISK ASSUMPTIONS: You are responsible for your own health. It is your responsibility to consult a Doctor before engaging in any physical activities due to any injuries that may result in participating. It is your responsibility to check all ingredients of what you order if you have known allergies – we do not have medical training or equipment. RELEASE: By being a member of “Out And About Orlando” and RSVP-ing for our events, you acknowledge that you have read everything written here in, are a responsible and aware adult and will not hold liable this group, its Organizers and Members of any damage or loss that may result by attending our events or being a member.
